SpanAfrica is a registered non-profit organization in the state of California. Our work supports and enhances the initiatives of African communities, offering a unique portal through which grassroots development organizations access global expertise, resources, and both virtual and hands-on volunteers.

Niche Strategist Positions


We are recruiting a group of experts to our team. These Niche Roles will bring qualified individuals on board, who can support projects, develop resources, share and enhance the wealth of knowledge passed on to Grassroots Partners and volunteers. The team will include a strategist for education, child development, gender, health, environment, life skills, agriculture relevant areas that are practically valuable to our Grassroots. Each strategist will be engaging in relationships with Grassroots Partners, volunteers, and the SpanAfrica team, collaborating on a variety of projects relevant to their niche. The available Niche Positions Education Strategist (position filled) - Focus on primary and secondary education support. For the Education Strategist position, the applicant should have a degree in education and minimum one year of teaching experience. Child Development Strategist - Focus on child-related issues, parental support and work with youth. For the Child Development Strategist position, the applicant should be a social worker or equal qualifications and have working experience with children (0-18 years). Gender Strategist (position filled) - This positions focus on womens rights, women empowerment and any gender related issue. For the Gender Strategist position, the applicant should have a university degree and experience in gender related work. Preferable is if applicant has an understanding of gender in a multicultural setting. Health Strategist - Focus on various aspects of health related work, HIV/AIDS awareness and work against malaria and other severe diseases and nutrition information. For the Health Strategist position, the applicant should have medical qualification. It is preferable if applicant has a completed degree and working experience in the field.

Environment Strategist -Focus on sustainable development and all types of environment related work. For the Environment Strategist position, the applicant should have a degree and experience relevant to environmental work. Life Skills Strategist -Focus on job creating activities, how to make a living, poverty reducing work. For the Life Skills Strategist position, the applicant should have relevant degree and experience in microfinance and adult education. Agriculture Strategist -Focus on farming and suitable crops. For the Agriculture Strategist position, the applicant should have a degree in agronomy and experience in agricultural work. The goal for each Niche Strategist is to undertake projects in collaboration with grassroots partners and volunteers as well as contributing to building SpanAfricas web-based library with independent research for their niche. SpanAfrica provides a framework for the Niche Strategist but depending on each Niche Strategists background suggestions and initiatives for projects relevant for the niche are welcome. The Niche Strategist will work independently in the team of Niche Strategists with regular email contact and a monthly Skype meeting with the niche team to enable each Niche Strategist to discuss ongoing projects as well as ideas for new projects.

Successful Candidate Qualifications


A background in international development, volunteerism, or African work is valued. Work can be done from anywhere in the world, connecting to the team through Internet, and sometimes Skype.
