Dinh La Thang , Minister of Transport , Vietnam


Born in 1960, Dinh La Thang has a PhD in Economics and has worked for a number of big state-owned companies. He was elected as a member of the National Assembly in 2001 and then as a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee. He was chairman of PetroVietnam between 2005 - August 2011 before being appointed as Minister of Transport in August 2011.

Pham Vu Luan , Minister of Education and Training , Vietnam


Pham Vu Luan is currently the minister of education and training, a post he has held since 2010. Prior to this, he was a deputy minister at the same ministry. Previously, Mr Luan has held numerous posts at the Hanoi University of Commerce, ranging from dean of faculty to rector of the university. He was elected a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in January 2011 and became a deputy to the National Assembly (13th Legislature) in June 2011. He is a graduate of the Hanoi University of Commerce and holds a PhD from Kiev University.

Tran Tuan Anh , Deputy Minister of Trade and Commerce , Vietnam


Tuan Anh Tran is currently a deputy minister at Vietnams Ministry of Industry and Trade. He has held various high-level posts in several government agencies, including the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Mr Tran holds a bachelors degree in international relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam. He also holds a PhD in economics from the Institute of World Economics and National Economics

Ton Nu Thi Ninh , Former Ambassador of Vietnam to the EU; Former Vice-Chair, Foreign Affairs Committee, Vietnam's National Assembly
Madam Ninh served her country as Ambassador and Head of Mission to the European Union in Brussels, then as Vice-Chair of Viet Nams 11th National Assemblys Foreign Affairs Committee with special focus on North America and Western Europe. On the social front, Madam Ninh has been continuously engaged in gender and post-war legacy issues, such as the impact of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Viet Nam. Whether as a diplomat, an elected representative or, today, a cultural and social entrepreneur, Madam Ninh has consistently worked to build bridges of understanding and cooperation between Viet Nam and the world. In her present undertakings, Madam Ninh's leadership draws upon her first calling as an academic at the Sorbonne, her rich international experience and her lifelong commitment to Viet Nam. She is known as one of the public figures having an impact in todays Viet Nam. Madam Ninh is the recipient of the French Legion dHonneur (Officier), the Belgian Order of Leopold II, and the Vietnamese Medal of Labor First Class.

Tomoyuki Kimura , Country Director, Viet Nam Resident Mission , Asian Development Bank
Tomoyuki Kimura is the Country Director of ADBs Viet Nam Redisdent Mission. He assumed office on 4 July 2011. Mr. Kimura is responsible for setting the priorities for ADBs assistance program to Viet Nam. He leads in the preparation of country strategy and program for Viet Nam in coordination with the Government, development partners, and civil society and nongovernemtal organizations. He also works closely with the Government and others stakeholders for improved Greater Mekong Subregion cooperation. Since 2006, Mr. Kimura works for the ADB in various capacities such as Principal Energy Specialist, Advisor, Head of Unit for Institutional Coordination, and Country Director for Viet Nam. Prior to this, Mr. Kimura worked as Assistant Vice President for the Fuji Bank in New York; Deputy Director of the India and Nepal Division of the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund; and Country Director for Bangladesh and Sri Lanka of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation in Tokyo. A Japanese national, Mr. Kimura is a graduate of Kyoto University in Japan, and has a Masters Degree in finance and management at J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, U.S.A.

Stefaan Le Clair , Chairman and Managing Director , Berenike Global Fashion Management
Stefaan Le Clair a Belgian national, is an expert on fashion branding and retail management. In his career he has taken responsibility in important international fashion groups with businesses in Europe, Asia and India. In the late 90's he lived in Shanghai and has laid the foundation of what is now the largest European retail brand in China with more than 2500 stores: Etam.

He was responsible for the rebranding and restructuring of the 100 year old iconic English denim brand Lee Cooper; who in the celebration year 2008, dressed 700 members of the U.K. Olympic team and 300 members of the Paralympic team for the games in Beijing. Le Clair is Master in Archaeology & History of Art (Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium ,1985), studied Financial Management ( Vlerick GentLeuven Management School,2002), Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (London), Fellow of the Association Belgium-China (since 2000) and Knight in Order of the Crown by his Majesty Albert II King of Belgium. Berenike advises Board and Executive Committees of Fashion, Shoe and Apparel companies on expansion strategy (to Middle East, India and Asia), retail management, licence and franchising management and sourcing strategy. Stephen Yeo , Chief Executive, South East Asia , BT


Stephen Yeo was appointed CEO for BTs South East Asia (SEA) operations in September 2010, based in Singapore. In his role at BT SEA, Stephen will oversee BTs business operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia, leading strategy development and execution as BT expands in the region. Before joining BT, Yeo was managing his own consultancy, S2S Consulting which assisted companies in growing their business in Asia. Yeo is a veteran in the technology industry with more than 30 years of experience, and has been credited for being a pioneering member in building Singapores vibrant IT industry and promoting initiatives such as IT literacy for the masses to reduce the countrys digital divide. He has held several operational and management positions in the Singapore Government and the corporate sector. He held a variety of roles over fourteen years at the Systems & Computers Organisation, Ministry of Defence where he was instrumental in spearheading initiatives to automate defence applications. From 1995 to 1999 he was the CEO of the National Computer Board (NCB). At the NCB, he promoted e-commerce and e-Government in Singapore and oversaw the development of key national IT infrastructure. Yeo then moved on to be CEO of Singapore Computer Systems (SCS Ltd), a public-listed company in Singapore, from 1999 to 2003. During his tenure, he aggressively grew the business of SCS across the Asia Pacific markets. In March 2003, Yeo joined EDS as President EDS SE Asia and India. During his six years at EDS he focused on strategic IT outsourcing deals and also led a team that clinched one of the largest IT outsourcing deals in Asia, with the Singapore Government. Over the last decade Yeo has held several board appointments and presently sits on the board of NTUCLink and NTU Graduate Business School.

Minh Chau Nguyen , Country Director , East Meets West Foundation


Minh Chau Nguyen became the Country Director for East Meets West in March 2009. Her previous positions at EMW include a board member and Chief Strategy Officer. Minh Chau spent 25 years working with the World Bank Group in Washington DC. As an economist at the World Bank, Minh Chau was responsible for policy dialogues, project evaluations, and loan negotiations for projects in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. She also served as the head of the Gender and Development Division at the World Bank. In this position, she led the World Bank delegation to the Women's World Conference in Beijing in 1995. Shortly thereafter, Minh Chau joined the International Finance Corporation, a private sector arm of the World Bank, to help direct IFC's operations in riskier markets. Prior to the World Bank, Minh Chau was a lecturer in economics at the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington. She is a co-founder of the ISIS Management Group, which promotes women entrepreneurs' access to venture financing. She has also worked with Small Enterprise Assistance Funds to help increase equity financing for small and medium enterprises in emerging markets. Minh Chau received her B.S. from Macalester College, an M.S. in economics from the University of Washington, and Advanced Management Training at Harvard Business School.

Truong Gia Binh , Chairman , FPT On the historic 13th September 1988, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, together with other twelve Vietnamese scientists, overcame obstacles and difficulties to established FPT Food Processing Technology Company, precursor of FPT Corporation. During the companys development, Mr. Binh has been its spirit upholder, its leader and the keeper of the sharply-grown-up FPT. Under his guidance, FPT has become the leading ICT Company in Vietnam, which is making the best effort to become a global one. Besides being an enterprise leader, he is also an enthusiastic man towards his nation and influences ITrelated policies by the Vietnamese government. Furthermore, since 1995, he has been working as the Dean of Business Administration Department of Hanoi School of Business (HBS for short), Hanoi National University. He has been the Chairman of Vietnam Software Association since 2001 and the Chairman of Vietnam Young Enterprises Organization from 1998 to 2005. In March 2002, after the equitization of FPT, Mr. Truong Gia Binh became the Chairman cum Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of FPT Corporation. After twenty years, FPT has moved to a new page of development. The distinction between the

governance of the Board of Management and the execution of the Board of Directors has become more critical than ever. In April 2009, the position of FPTs CEO was transferred to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam. Mr. Truong Gia Binh, as the Chairman of FPT shall concentrate on the strategic development and the organization of senior human resources of the Corporation. If it is true that Ambition and think big are mentioned in almost successology material as the foremost factors to be successful, they are the most prominent characters of him. Mr. Binh graduated from Mechanical Mathematics Department of Moscow National General University named Lomonosov of the former Soviet Union, which is now Russian Federation in 1979. He successfully obtained his PhD. in 1982 in this university and was honored as an Associate Professor by the State of Vietnam in 1991.

Vu Thanh Tu Anh , Director of Research , Fulbright Economics Teaching Program


Vu Thanh Tu Anh is the director of research at the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program in Ho Chi Minh City, and a research fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School. Dr. Tu Anh's primary research interests include public finance, economic development, and industrial policy. As the Fulbright School's research director, Dr. Tu Anh leads the Fulbright School's policy research and analysis efforts, coordinating research teams that often include faculty from both the Fulbright School and Harvard Kennedy School as well as Vietnamese policy analysts from inside and outside government. He teaches regularly in the Fulbright School's executive education and policy dialogue initiatives with the Vietnamese government. Dr. Tu Anh has also been active in serving a wider community. He serves as member of the Consultative Group of the National Assembly's Economic Committee. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee at Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Tu Anh frequently comments on economic policy issues in the Vietnamese media. He is currently the op-ed columnist for the Saigon Economic Times, a leading economic and business journal in Vietnam. Dr. Tu Anh received his PhD degrees in economics from Boston College.

Stuart L. Dean , Chief Executive Officer , GE ASEAN


Stu graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 1975 with a BA in Economics and Political Science and as a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Following a 2-year assignment with the US Government, he obtained an MBA from Harvard in 1979. He then joined GE as a Sales Representative for Major Appliance and TV Products. Following a series of sales management and marketing roles, he became Product General

Manager Laundry / Dishwasher in 1985. In 1988-90, he was General Manager Services Marketing and then General Manager Service Operations. In August 1991, he was named Business Development Manager, GE International, based in Singapore with responsibilities for Southeast Asia and Australia. In 1993, he became President, GE Capital, Southeast Asia. In February 1995, he became President, GE Indonesia, located in Jakarta. Stu currently has responsibility for all of ASEAN and resides in Kuala Lumpur, where he is a Governor of the Malaysian American Chamber of Commerce. Stu serves as chairman of the Vietnam-US committee of the US-ASEAN Business Council and on the boards of the US-Indonesia Society and the Fulbright Commission in Malaysia and the board of advisors for the Global GE Volunteer Foundation. Last, but certainly not least, he is an active GE Community volunteer and was recognized by Habitat for Humanity for having led 2 week-long housebuilding projects in Aceh following the tsunami.

Henry currently serves as the Managing General Partner of IDG Ventures Vietnam, a $100 million fund focused on technology, media, and telecom investments in Vietnam. As the founding partner of the Fund, Henry splits his time between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, which affords him access to both government and business leaders. One of three General Partners, Henry concentrates on fund strategy, government relations, general management and operations, and communications. The IDG Ventures team has made 39 investments since its inception in 2004, including VinaGame, Punch Entertainment, iSphere Software, Mobile Solutions Services, VinaPay and Goldsun Focus Media.
