The World today has turned into a global village. Media has brought the development &progress of Nations to our doorsteps, It plays a crucial role in shaping our social, political and economic life. The awareness in any field has perculated down to the grassroot levels through media, thus moulding the public life and their opinion. This power of media has given it the status of fourth pillar of democracy, increasing its responsibilities manifold. In the last decade a new change is being felt, media has gradually commercialized. This commercialization has created a stiff competition in enhancing the numbers of readers, listeners and viewers at the cost of quality and quantity of information. The editorial and reading material is shrinking when compared to commercial space. People are moving towards contemporary new styles like online content, blogs, twitters, utube and smaller newspapers for news contents.

Objective Of The Media Meet


The basic role assigned to media which was to inform, educate and entertain is getting lost under the pressure of advertisements. The objective of the meet is to generate healthy interaction between the media professionals to come to some conclusion how a balance can be maintained and media industry goes back to its original role of providing more information, editorials and growth stories in the interest of a healthy democracy. We have invited leading personalities and professionals from Newspapers, TV News Channels, Radio, Advertising, Public Relations and Media Institutes to interact and come to some consolidated conclusions on this issue.

JIMS offers programmes in Mass Communication to the under-graduates by providing a strong foundation and comprehensive training to aspirants from any discipline to pursue careers in the Media Industry. The programme gives an opportunity to study the Media, ranging from media issues to forms of communication. One can also learn media laws and ethics; research and journalistic techniques; media marketing; public relations and organizing events and exhibitions. Students are encouraged to specialize in Print; Broadcast & Web Journalism; Radio; Television Production & Film Making, Advertising and Public Relations.

Course Highlights
Well structured lectures with practical approach. Focus on communication skills, creativity and concepts. Emphasis on operational knowledge of Camera, TV, Broadcasting and Production equipment. Focus on production of Documentaries, Short Films, quickies etc. Academic and practical work on Advertising and Public Relations. Special emphasis on exhibitions and events. Visits to media related places in Delhi an outside like The Tribune newspaper, Chandigarh, Film City, Noida and Kurukshetra for photo features. Participation in Audience based programmes on current events, political developments, stock market fluctuations, women issues, price rise, international development on NDTV, Aaj Tak, India TV, IBN -7, and other channels. Students attend International Film Festival in Goa every year wherein they participate in screening of films, attend seminars and workshops, interact and interview various national and international Directors and doctors.
