Duties include: writing and publishing copy, design, distribution, targeted marketing, maintaining and creating relevant databases, and developing partnership packages. June 2011 Present: Communications Manager, Leeds International Film Festival I returned to the Leeds International Film Festival to lead and support the marketing and audience development of the event. Key projects I led on include: online audience research, creating sponsor and media partnerships to enhance the profile of the Film Festival and develop film audiences in Leeds, generating income through advertising sales and the development of sampling opportunities at Film Festival venues, and the integration of new technological marketing techniques into the long term marketing strategy. January April 2011: Marketing and Advertising Volunteer, Leeds Young Peoples Film Festival My duties included: overseeing social media and online opportunities, increasing advertising revenues, generating press activity and media partnerships, and creating and seizing low cost and free promotional opportunities. Dec 2010 June 2011: Marketing and Design Volunteer, Leeds International Film Festival I worked with the Film Festival Director and Business Manager to ensure that current private sector th relationships were nurtured and new partnerships were developed for the 25 edition of the Film Festival. This included creating PDF documents for previous sponsors to showcase the opportunities provided by the Film Festival and creating a general PDF for new potential sponsors. I also continued to compose and send out the Film Festival newsletter as well as communicating key news items and information through social media channels. July - Nov 2010: Communications Coordinator, Leeds International Film Festival th I was heavily involved in ensuring the 24 Leeds International Film Festival broke all previous attendance records, securing its position as the largest cultural event in the North of England. I maintained and developed social media platforms and updated the website, ensuring that key news items and messages were accessible to the largest audience possible. I solely managed the distribution of print materials across Leeds and the North of England, reducing distribution costs of the previous year; an important factor which is anticipated to have contributed to the increase in audience by 4,000 people and raised brand awareness. Oct 2008 - Aug 2009: Marketing Intern, The Carriageworks, Leeds Whilst I was at The Carriageworks I compiled marketing plans for individual shows and seasons, compiled a marketing strategy, generated press and organised Direct Mail campaigns. I also played a key role in updating The Carriageworks website, social media platforms and listings websites. A major project I was involved in was Emerge: Leeds New Work Festival where I composed the original proposal document, created the satellite website and undertook general administrative duties such as writing minutes. Jun - Sep 2008: Public Relations Officer, H2008: BEACHED, Scarborough I compiled a competent marketing plan and liaised with local media, partners and sponsors to ensure that coverage was maximised. Press coverage was successful with BBC Radio York and Look North visiting the festival site over the duration of the weekend. National press was also obtained in publications such as The Guardian and The Fly. I also contributed to the Beach Academy scheme which provided opportunities for young people to perform on a professional stage and work backstage; I organised and ran a seminar on PR and Marketing. May - Jun 2008: Temporary Marketing and Press Assistant, Theatre Royal Wakefield I undertook marketing and administrative duties within the busy theatre promoting shows including Tim Vine, Daniel Kitson and Moves: A Festival of dance. I was heavily involved in the first year of Moves: A Festival of Dance fulfilling tasks such as: public sector fundraising, proof reading promotional literature, creating a website and generating press interest. I was also involved in organising a season launch which included sending invitations, organising RSVPs and assisting on the day. Additional Work Experience Dec 2008 July 2011: Box Office Assistant, Leeds City Council I sold tickets for multiple events in Leeds using the database driven Box Office system. I regularly handled cash, including opening up and cashing up on my own. I was also at times given the responsibility to check event details before shows went on sale and compiled reports for both internal departments and visiting companies. Jul - Oct 2009: Type 1 Processor, NHS PPD BSA, Wakefield I input a large amount of data quickly and accurately into the database system used by the NHS. I also completed relevant training packages to ensure that my skills were up to date. Oct 2007 - Aug 2008: Sales Assistant, W H Smith, Wakefield I processed sales and orders through the W H Smith computer system. I regularly worked on the Customer Service desk processing refunds and exchanges alongside changing the entertainment charts. I also constructed POS promotions and achieved TPC sales targets. Technical Skills and Training I am familiar with all MS packages on both Mac and PC. I also have a good knowledge of design and website packages such as: Photoshop, Corel Paintshop Pro Photo, Quark Xpress, Illustrator and Dreamweaver. I have attended the following training events: Securing Business Sponsorship and Inclusive Marketing A training event on accessible communications. Interests I have a keen interest in theatre, comedy, the use of art in advertising and conversely advertising in art, contemporary art, classic and Russian literature, and indie, rock and classical music.
