FATHERS,

ITS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY

PASTOR DAVID WARNER FAITHFUL BAPTIST CHURCH OMAK, WASHINGTON

Todays fathers dont talk to their families about the Bible very much. They expect their church to or their own wife to. There is a lot of spiritual work expected of the father at home, yet almost none is done. Most fathers are weak-kneed, unknowledgeable, lazy shukers of responsiblility. The Bible has some strong words for what the fathers responsibility is at home. Josh 24:14-15 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Father, most around you are not serving God, but you must make the bold stand for your family and say we WILL serve the LORD. Even if they battle you on this, you must see to it that it is done. Eph 5:21 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Father, lead your family, including your wife. She may be more spiritually knowledgable right now, but that is no excuse for your responsiblility. So, open up your Bible and start learning and start leading Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Father, spend the time with your child and train him to go the right way. What will you train them with? You will obviously need to use your Bible. Training needs to be done frequently, like every day. The world is trying to train them differently. Whos going to win? 2 Tim 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. Father, make known the Bible to your children so they can be saved young. Focus on verses dealing with salvation until they are so wise unto salvation that they cant help but get saved. If one of your children doesnt get saved then you are for sure to blame. Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Father, bring up your children as the Lord would, nurturing and admonishing them. It will take great care and concern for them, just as the Lord does for us day after day. Ps 78:4-7 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: Father, dont keep quiet about spiritual things, make them known to your family! Most men sadly assume that the wife or the pastor is responsible for the spiritual stuff. The father needs to learn it and then teach it, and noone else. Deut 6:6-7 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Father, teach Gods commands diligently to your family, and talk of them every chance you get. This verse speaks of talking about the Bible first thing at breakfast, on the way to the store etc, when everyone is just sitting around the house, and before going to bed. Deut 11:18-20 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates: Father, get Gods word deep in your own heart first, and then speak of them to your family all the time day or night. Deut 4:9-10 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons; Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. Father, and Grandfather, tell of Gods blessings to your kids and grandkids, so they will learn to fear God and tell their kids too. If you dont teach them to fear then they wont. Gen 18:17-19 And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. Father, if you want Gods blessing then do like Abraham did and command your family to follow the way of the Lord. God is impressed with men like this.
