Grassroots mobilization. Empowerment. Government accountability. These core principles are essential to effective community engagement and realizing true self-reliance, which is why leadership elections are crucial. You see, just like the partner organizations we support, we also place a value on participation in democracy.

Why are elections important?


Although we are a small club, it is important for young clubs to do an election anyway so that precedents can be set for the leadership roles for the future. Having officers is also a great foundation for the future and having officers is definitely a way to help your club stay on a successful path. - Emily @ NAU First ever UW FG elections! Elections are cool, but how do I actually hold one?


When Here are a few things to consider! does your leadership team turnover? What time of year does it make sense for your chapter to hold elections? Talk as a group about what makes the most sense for your chapter in terms of your years flow. Is there an application process? Create an application for FeelGooders interested in running for a position to fill out Have applicants create a video or write a short speech expressing why they are interested in the position they are running for. Nominate members of your chapter to be a part of the leadership team.

What is the best way to gather votes? What is the most convenient for your chapter? At a deli day, a meeting, online? Are elections closed after one day or do they stay open for at least a week? What is the best way to get your members out to the polls?
