We burn a hot fire here; it melts down all concealment . How accurately do Danforth's words describe the court?

This sentence is telling by Danforth to Proctor in n the vestry room of the Salem meeting house, and really has several meanings about the intention of Danforth Danforth wants to tell several things. First that he wants that the court will be like a crucible, a melting pot that uncover all that are hiding or at least he thinks that is hiding. Second thing that he wants to say Proctor that he will not be deceived. Proctor has brought Mary to him so that she will tell him the truth. The hot fire means that all will be cleaned and uncovered. But this two meanings are not true. Because the people that are accused dont have anything to hide but on contrary the people that accused have dark intentions. So this words in a literal sense dont describe exactly a fair court because in this trial everybody know that are lying because of different goals. Danforth wants to keep his reputation .He rules by the law and will not allow exceptions or anyone to try to undermine his court. He is more worried about this that find out the truth besides Danforth rules over the proceedings as if the accused are guilty until proven innocent, probably he is not acting with evil as Abigail but he is abusing of his power because despite there can be no concrete evidence of witchcraft, Danforth must trust the word of the accuser as to whether any witchcraft has occurred at all. With this kind of judge is easy for the rest to convince Danforth that people as Elizabeth Proctor or Rebeca Nurse are witches. Another thing that help that the court will be a farce is the relation between the people of Salem that is very bad due to the puritan religion that means that a sin committed by a person is not only a sin but an offence to all the people, for example the sin committed by John Proctor is hiding not only by his wife that knows the fact, but also because all the community dont forget this kind of sins. This is because his wife lie to Danforth telling that she doesn't know anything about the infidelity of his wife with Abigail, and besides she tells him does his husband never will be able to do that thing obviously things get worse and doesnt help to avoid the accusation of witchcraft. The other people defend their interests for example reverend Parris is a paranoid that treats to impose his believe to all the people, the people that dont believe like him is a sinner or a witch. However Putnam moves for money he thinks that if the people that are accused is hanged he can get their money or their land In fact convice his daughter into accusing George Jacobs so that he may purchase his land once Jacobs has been executed.. Abigail in contrast has moved for self-preservation and besides cause she things that Elizabeth Proctor disappear she could come back with John. The final point of the tragedy is the scene when Mary the servant of Proctor that at the beginning of the scene want to testify in favor of Proctor and his wife finally breaks down and accuses Proctor of witchcraft. because she has Fear to be accused also and be hanged, Mary realizes that the only way to save herself is to accuse Proctor of convincing her into try to cheat the court. In this case the accusation contains some truth: Proctor did force Mary Warren into testifying but in order to tell

the truth but Mary is a girl esaily influenced and for fear at last she lie. As we see in this scene the court doesnt melt anything but the hot fire is heating all the feelings of the community of Salem and confront neighbours against neighbours The hot fire that tells Danforth open the door to all the problems that Salem has. The court heat these problems that set up a conflict with serious consequences.
