Dear Shri Dinesh Trivedi ji,

At the outset, I compliment you to taking initiative for conducting Feasibility Study for a High Speed Rail Corridor connecting Chennai - Bangalore - Coimbatore - Ernakulam-Thiruvananthapuram. My Gover-!1ment will extend full support for early implementation of this important project which connects imp6'ftant South Indian cities. In this connection, I want to bring to your kind attention the crucial need to include Bangalore-Mysorc high speed rail connectivity in the proposed High Speed Rail Corridor project of Indian Railways. Vibrant industrial activities are taking place in the Bangalore-Mysore route. There is fast increasing travel between Bangalore and Mysore due to the growth of Information Technology related industry with Mysore city emerging as the second largest software exporter ip..the State. The proposed Bangalore ..Mysore high speed rail connectivity will also encourage decongestion of Bangalore and dispersion of population from the city of Bangalore. Mysore is the tourist attraction of the State . Various tourist attractions in Mysore (e.g. Mysore Palace, Vrindavan Garden etc.) are visited by over thirty lakh tourists every year - both domestic and foreign - \vith most arriva]s from Banga10re City, which is only about 140 Krn. away from IV!yscre thus en3.]:Ij"6 3. :1a)' tri[: tho.t i:3 rn;;3t 01.::jt;:,;)~1r:: for L]iC piOfu:::;eJ high s~)eed rail travel. Hence, it is proposed to develop a High Speed Rail Connectivity betv/ccn B8ng8~ore and Mysorc .. Provision of this corridor would result in the deve10pment of an urban corridor and also these cities becOJning twin-cities. 'vVe expect a large scale FDI during the next few ycars in this industrial belt. The Japan Paihvay Technical Service Team. visited Bangalor~ and interacted with the State Govt officials. They also felt the need for Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore route. The report has proposed ju~ction arrangement at Krisj1nagiri from where high -;peed rail rOl).tes '.v111 . -2 The proposed high speed rail linkage of Bangalore-Mysore will be heavily utilized by tourism, IT and commuter traffic between Bangalor<:: and Mysore and result in huge shift from:road and air to rail, which is more sustainable mode of travel due tt> far lower fuel consumption, carbon emi"ssions and accidents. Currently, KSRTC runs 1000 bus trips between Bangalore carrying 35,000 passengers daily, a major share is expected to shift to high speed rail in the future thus reducing the fuel consumption, carbon emissions and road accidents. In addition, a huge number of commuter trips are expected between Bangalore and Mysore as people settle in less congested areas near Mysore and travel daily to Bangalore:- Thus, Bangalore-Mysore high speed rail route will run to capacity right from the start of operations and ensure financial viability for the proposed high speed rail corridor project of Railways. Ccnsidel-ing the above facts, I req~est you to kindly include Bangalore- Mysore route also in the above High Speed Rail Corridor. With regards,
