180 Days to PCC!

ICF requirements for PCC credential are: 125 hours of classroom, 10 hours of mentored coaching and 750 hours of coaching hours, of which 675 hours should be paid hours. ICA CPCP program, either fully teleclass or hybrid f2f, provides all 125 classroom hours, including 18 mentored coaching hours, along with 20 hours of business labs and various assignments. Students are also linked to a barter peer-coaching network on ICA website to acquire paid coaching hours. Depending on paid coaching hours acquired, you can apply for the appropriate credential. Professionals and executives with about 15 years of business experience can show between 600 to 700 hours of such verified coaching experience. ICA graduates can apply to ICF online with the graduation certificate and two mentor coach references that ICA will provide, along with their log of coaching hours to obtain their credentials as soon as they graduate. ICA has 9 requirements for graduation. Details are given in the Assessment Tasks pages that follow under 9 sections. Visit http://old.ica-learn.com and http://old.ica-learn.com/assess.html and go through all links to familiarize yourself with what is needed. I have summarized for you, the fast track process. 125 Class Room Hours, 48 hours as face to face: Download study material, Learning Level 1 to 5, from Your Courses of the learn.com web page, with your log in ID and password. There are 45 classroom modules, totalling 90 classroom hours. Summarise content in a journal as a mind map or in some easy to capture-reflectrecollect format. Do this before you start your classes. Go to Schedule Your Classes under teleclass schedule on the above web page to plan your attendance. To complete the 125 hours in 6 months, plan to complete all learning modules in about 4 months, since the 6 week long mentored coaching requires this knowledge. Plan to attend at least 6 hours a week and choose what is convenient to you from the ICA calendar. In the f2f Bangalore program, this becomes easier since 48 hours are covered face to face, and you need to attend only the remaining tele classes. F2F program also covers the basics in the first session and you can choose remaining hours in any sequence, leaving aside those that have been planned for future f2f sessions.

The dialogue within the classroom adds great learning value. Post your reflections on these modules in the Discussion Board of ICA website after attending the classes, ideally one for each session. This is an ICA graduation requirement. Details are in Section 1 of Assessment Tasks. Remaining classroom hours include 20 hours of Community of Practice & Business Labs and 18 hours of Mentored Coaching hours. Log your attendance as detailed in Section 9 for submission to ICA before graduation. A cost effective way of dialling into the tele classes is via Skype, using the unlimited subscription on a quarterly basis. Face to face session 1 will cover the following modules: Level 1 Coaching-what is it? Creating Awareness Coaching Theory Values and Life Purposes The ICF Competencies Level 2 Developing Tools Power Listening Coaching Delivery Assignments: You need to submit three assignments during the CPCP: Your Coaching Model, Power Tools and Research Paper, described in detail in Sections 4,5 and 8. Complete these learning modules for these assignments in the first month and plan to complete the assignments by month 4. You will also be briefed on these in the first f2f session. Peer Coaching Peer Coaching hours required by ICA for graduation are detailed in Section 4. These are the minimum for ICA graduation. ICF credentials require you to exceed these hours. ACC requires 100 hours with 8 clients and PCC 750 hours with 25 clients. It is the students responsibility to acquire these hours. Ensure that peer coaching is on a barter mode to qualify for ICF requirements. Additional PCC hours can be from in company experience. Mentor or Supervised Coaching

ICA provides mentor coaching hours within the program as detailed in Sections 6 and 7. You need to book your dates ahead of time. Mentor Coaches will provide the reference letters needed for credential. After the mentor coaching sessions, you would need to complete Self Reflection as in Section 2.

(CPCP: Learning levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,Community of Practice, Supervised Coaching) Please send all assessment tasks as attachments to assessment@icoachacademy.com. We use your emails to track your assessment tasks so, please, only send one attachment per email. 1. Module Reflections At ICA, we use many modalities in our training. We ask you to write, listen, participate, read and share your unique ideas as they relate to what you are learning. With this in mind, (if you enrolled in the program after February 2010) part of your assessment process is to write a reflection of your learning after you complete each module (a module includes parts 1 and 2.) The reflection should be written on the discussion board under the appropriate Learning Level and Module. There are many benefits to this process; connection with fellow students that you may or may not meet in class; the benefit of other perspectives and opinions shared by colleagues and a record of your learning and attendance that you can refer to when you complete your self reflection and record of participation. Often students ask us if this assessment is "checked" by faculty. Although Trainers do visit the discussion board frequently and may read and comment on your posts, we do not "check" to be sure you have completed your module reflections. Much like the attendance requirement, we rely on our students to be responsible for their own learning process - we practice a "self directed learning" model at ICA. It has been our experience that reflection on each module by sharing thoughts on the discussion board, is a very powerful aspect of the learning process and this is why we include it as an assessment. 2. Self Reflection [Assessment: SelfReflection.doc] [Assessment: SelfAssessmentCoverSheet.doc] Self Reflection is one of the most important forms of assessment at ICA, as the ability to reflect on your own strengths, abilities and to manage your own learning, are at the heart of coaching. This is about your experience of the training process. At the end of the training, you will be asked to answer three questions and give yourself a mark for each one. In order to answer these questions, you will want to be able to refer to notes that you take during the training process. These notes can be kept in a blog, hand-written journal or in a word document on your computer. Please keep your journal or blog from the time you begin the program until just before you graduate. Your notes are not public, they are simply a reference for you to use when you fill out your "self reflection." Your journal or blog could also be a practical

marketing tool where you list contacts and resources and store links to useful sites. Our preference is for you to keep a blog as opposed to a journal, as this will leverage your learning. In using a blog to reflect on your learning, you will learn the benefits and features of a blog. The blog will also support you in marketing your coaching practice. If you do choose to keep a blog, you have the choice to maintain the blog as a closed document available only to yourself and to whomever you designate, or as an open document that can be accessed by others outside the course. However, If you are unable to maintain a blog, you can keep your journal in another form. When you have completed this assessment, please send it to assessment@icoachacademy.com and post it to the Discussion Board under 'Self Reflection'. Your post will be available to your trainers and also to the student body at large to review and learn from. You can create your blog through http://www.wordpress.com. Simply click on the link and follow the simple instructions. Here is the recording of the Blogging Techniques teleclass held on the 16th Jan 2007: Here is the recording of the Advanced Blogging Features teleclass held on 20th Feb 2007: 3. Your Coaching Model [Assessment: CoachingModelCoverSheet.doc] At ICA, we believe that your success as a practicing coach depends largely on your ability to draw on your own values, beliefs, skills and abilities, as well as your life and work experiences to develop a coaching model that is unique to you. This assessment task asks you to contextualize the ICA model to make it your own. You are asked to make a visual representation of your coaching model using the guidelines in the Learning Levels. You will then describe your model in a short paragraph. You also need to explain the unique features of your model that will make you a spectacular coach! When you have completed this assessment, please send it to assessment@icoachacademy.com and post it to the Discussion Board under Coaching Models Your post will be available to your trainers and also to the student body at large to review and learn from. 4. Coaching Reflections [Assessment: CoachingReflectionsForm.doc] As part of your program you need to be coached by another student as well as practicing coaching yourself. When you are ready to be

coached or to coach others, register on the Discussion Board. You need to be coached for a minimum of 12 sessions for ACCP and 24 sessions for CPCP and then record the dates and times of these sessions on your Record of Participation. Fifty percent of the sessions must be by phone. Later in the course, when you feel ready, you can register to coach others. Below are the peer coaching requirements for ACCP and CPCP: ACCP CPCP Be coached for a minimum of Be coached for a minimum of 12 24 coaching sessions. coaching sessions.

Your 12 sessions of coaching may be with one coach or more than one coach. Coach 3 clients, including at least 2 fellow students (36 total sessions minimum). Please note there is no maximum amount of sessions that you must coach a client for. The 36 sessions may be divided between your clients as you choose.

Your 24 sessions of coaching may be with one coach or more than one coach. Coach 5 clients- Of these 5, 2 will be fellow students and 2 will be external clients, and the fifth client can be either a fellow student or an external client. (60 total sessions minimum).

Please note there is no maximum amount of sessions that you must coach a client for. The 60 sessions may be divided between your clients as you choose. Once again, please document the dates and times of these sessions on your Record of Participation. At the end of this process, ask each of your 5 clients to complete a Coaching Reflection form. There is room at the end of the form for you to document your reflections on their feedback. When you have finished with all 5 clients, send all of the 5 completed coaching reflection form (as an attachment to one email) to assessment@icoachacademy.com 5. Learning Level 3: Power Tools [Assessment: PowerToolCoverSheet.doc - 46kb] Learning Level 3 provides you with a series of Power Tools developed by ICA staff over time to assist you in your coaching practice. Each one provides a practical skill that you can directly apply. As part of this unit, you will be expected to develop your own power tool. Your Power Tool should be based on the same conceptual model as

the ICA Power Tools where two opposing perspectives are presented in way that clients can use as part of the coaching process. The aim is to use the tool to explore and enable empowered change for people and to add to your coaching toolbox as part of your evolving coaching practice. This means that the tool that you create should:

Explain/outline the two perspectives what they are and how they inform our lives Include activities, questions etc that you would use with clients to help them with this process Be practical and explain the two perspectives and how they inform what we do in a language that is accessible for clients.

Your Power Tool should build on what you have learnt from studying the Power Tools. It can be useful to design your Power Tool to add to your overall coaching approach and coaching model. The Power Tool is a competent/not yet competent assessment. In order to be competent in it, it is essential that you address all these issues and present it in clear and accessible language. Power Tools are usually between 3-4 pages in length. When you have completed your power tool, attach the Power Tool coversheet and send it as an attachment to assessment@icoachacademy.com. 6. Supervised Coaching Assessment [Assessment: SupervisedCoachingEvaluation.doc] As part of Supervised Coachingyou will be observed conducting 6 coaching sessions for CPCP and 2 for ACCP with an accredited ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC) or a Master Certified Coach (MCC). ICA schedules regular supervision sessions, starting each month, where a PCC or MCC is available to listen in to your coaching sessions. You need to register for these sessions on the Supervised Coaching page. You will be assessed over the course of the six sessions (2 for ACCP) against competencies determined by the International Coach Federation: our accrediting body, using the attached Proforma Supervised Coaching Evaluation Form. The PCC or MCC will give you a copy of your completed assessment record for your own records and reflection. You should email a copy as an attachment to assessment@icoachacademy.com. 7. Oral Assessment [Assessment: OralAssessment.doc] (CPCP) During one of your six sessions you will be given an oral assessment which consists of 7 questions. The first 5 questions will be asked by your PCC or MCC Supervisor during your supervised session. Your

PCC or MCC Supervisor will give you immediate feedback on the answers you give during that session and then document the outcome using the attached oral assessment and send it to you. You will then be asked to answer the last two questions, which address the ICF Code of Ethics. Once you have completed all questions, please submit the entire assessment to assessment@icoachacademy.com. NB: There is no Oral Assessment requirement for ACCP students. 8. Research Paper [Assessment: ResearchPaperHelpfulHints.doc] [Assessment: Eg_Downshifting.pdf] [Assessment: ResearchPaperCoverSheet.doc] You are expected to complete a 2000 word research paper (750 to 1000 words for ACCP) on one aspect of coaching. You should choose a coaching topic of interest, perhaps related to your niche. You may use a case study as a part of your research. Your research should explore a particular aspect of coaching, gain some information or evidence and then present this information in a report. There will be an opportunity to discuss ideas in the Research Paper teleclasses. This paper will be assessed upon demonstration of:

understanding of the coaching topic: research and analytical discussion on an issue in coaching; evidence used to support your argument; strength of your argument; and presentation of your report and referencing

The paper must be written in a professional style, double-spaced and must not be written in the first person, i.e. I, We; as this is not a personal paper. It must also include items such as a front page, content page, headers, quotes, references, and all that encompasses a research paper. Please consult the attached guide to help you. You can also view this example of a past students research paper. When you have completed the research paper you should attach the following coversheet and email the completed document to assessment@icoachacademy.com. 9. Record of Participation [Record of Participation] Part of your role as a coach and small business manager will be to administer your own records. At ICA our expectation is that you will manage your own learning in the same way. You need to maintain a record of all of the classes you have participated in as well as the sessions in which you have coached others or been coached yourself

Download your Class Log. Then submit the record to assessment@icoachacademy.com.
