COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES CLIENT NURSE

Client is not cooperative with the student-nurse unless he was supervised by his father and asks him to follow what we are actually instructing him.

Client doesnt followed the student nurse s instruction. He wasn t able to perform hygiene care on his own with some assistance from the nurse ( e.g offering towel, tootbrush, soap, pail).

Encourage client to perform afternoon care to maintain client s hygiene.

(Verbal) Adonis, tingnan mo nga kung san jan yung ballpen. (Non-Verbal) eye contact, smiled at client, stood up and pointed towards the area where the client must proceed.

(Non-verbal) He still looks at me straightly and eventually divert again his sight to the television.

Client is not cooperated during the exercise session. He is hyperactive during the therapy and correcting the movements of the patients beside him indicating authority among all the patients.

Instructed client to participate in the exercise session.

(Verbal) Uncle Alexis, ano po ang petsa ngayon? Anon a po ang oras ngayon? (Nonverbal) eye contact, moderate voice, smile. Applaud after client answered the question. Client answered the student nurse s question indicating that he is orientated to date and time. Used other language in answering question indicating his multi-lingual skills. (Non-verbal) smiled and followed the student nurse s interaction.

(Verbal) Uncle, May paparinig po kami sa inyo na music tapos ito po yung papel at mga pangkulay, idrawing nyo po yung ano mang maisip at maramdaman nyo habang pinapakinggan nyo yung music ha. (Non-verbal) Open posture, eye contact, moderate voice tone, calm manner.Provide coloring materials to client.

Used closed-ended question to assess client s orientation to date and time. Applaud to give acceptance and recognition to client s participation and correct answer.

Client cooperated during the therapy. Client is focused on what he s doing. Conducted guided imagery therapy to allow the client to express his feeling and thoughts by means of drawing.

Client provided background of his educational attainment. Shared his feelings about the stress he experienced being a working student. Express some insight of the reason for his hospitalization.

(Verbal) Wala pero may syota ako. Confidential, nasa pulitika, abala sa pulitika. (Non-verbal) No eye contact, laughed after answering the question. Slight attention.

Ano naman po yung mga gamot na iniinom ninyo?

Client answered the question but refused to give further insights about hi personal relationship.
