Working closely with a subcommittee of the Medical Staff developed and implemen ted detailed policies and procedures for selection, stocking and purchasing of i nternal pacemakers, which significantly reduced annual operating expenditures fo r use of this device in an institution performing 180 plus pacer implants each y ear. Chaired multi-disciplinary task force targeted at reviewing and improving the t reatment and outcome of as many as 90 long- term ventilators assisted patients. A consistent decrease in excess of 12% in the total daily ventilator assisted p atient census was achieved. Implemented a Maintenance Risk Management Program (MRM) that successfully repla ced an estimated 1.2 million dollars in vendor and OEM service contracts primari ly for high-tech equipment. This Program resulted in an annual savings of more than $250,000 while providing a viable approach to the management of capital ass ets.
