SOCIAL ACTION IN THE VILLAGES

In September, I was delighted to volunteer for a week of Social Action in our villages. I joined Nazeing Scouts in bridge building to see the work they do, and became Milk Monitor at Sheering Primary School for a morning to help educate the children about the importance of a healthy diet. One of the things I most love about the villages is our strong community.

ROBERT HALFON IS MOST HARD WORKING NEW MP
SAVING OUR GREEN BELT
Thanks to our radical new law (the Localism Bill), residents will have a genuine say over any future development. This will help to save our fields and woodlands. We have also scrapped Labours damaging housing targets. For over 10 years, I have fought to keep our green belt safe. Now, as MP, I will do everything that I can to be a strong voice for the villages.

MY CAMPAIGN FOR CHEAPER PETROL

For the last year, I have campaigned for cheaper petrol, and secured a debate in Parliament on this issue. This is the most pressing issue for the country - its causing misery for families, misery for businesses and it's creating a poverty trap. "It's also the biggest break on economic growth. Businesses are going bust because they can't afford the price of petrol. Taxi drivers, and haulage firms are suffering. To be fair, the Government have taken some action already: cutting fuel duty by 1p this year, and scrapping Labours disastrous tax escalator on petrol. But we need to go further. Astronomical petrol prices are driving people out of work, and costing the Government money, as fewer people can afford to drive. This has cost the Government at least 1 billion already this year. We urgently need cheaper petrol: to get our economy moving again.

Buses and Safer Ro ads. This year we put an extra 100m illion towards repairi ng potholes in England. Plus 15m illion investment in Green Buses. Locally, I have been campaigning for Arriv a to keep the bus-routes that our villages so desperat ely need. Lower Taxes fo r Lower Earners. We have cut taxes, liftin 1,000,000 people ou g t of income tax alto gether. When the economy improv es, we will do more. Protecting Scho ols and the NHS. De spite the tough economy, our local NHS has been awar ded an extra 12 million pounds this year, and local scho ols will get at least 831,000 extra too.
