Reince Priebus and the RNC Sylvia Bokor Recently I received a copy of "Remarks as Prepared for RNC Chairman

n Reince Prieb us, RNC 2012 Winter Meeting, January 13, 2012." The remarks are nothing more than a lot of hot air uttered in worn-out rhetoric replete with references to Obama's detrimental actions. As such they show what's wrong with the RNC. The remarks are banal and uninspiring. They are void of ideas, and do not explai n what must be done to end the welfare-statism eating into the fabric of this na tion Here is an example: "This election revolves around the failed record of Barack O bama. So our message will, by and large, be about holding him accountable to tha t record." Obama's failures are not what this election is all about. We do not need a rehash of what stinks about his Administration. The entire electorate knows what's wro ng with it. In order to vote out Obama and those who support him, we need ideas. And we need those ideas explained to the electorate. This election is about the need to implement ideas that will stop the drain on o ur pocketbooks by getting government out of the way of our extractive industries and increasing our own oil and nuclear production. It's about stopping the spend ing that has put us in debt, and thanks to the Fed, now promises hyperinflation. Most fundamental, it's about reminding our elected officials and candidates that our individual rights are the foundations of our Constitution and our laws and to the extent that our rights are violated, to that extent we all are "wards of the state." On nearly every radio and TV talk show, in almost every op-ed and forum, it is a cknowledged that the American people are concerned about the economy, about find ing a job. They are not going to be inspired to vote for GOP candidates by talki ng about Obama's failures. Nor are they going to be inspired by candidates prete nding they can create jobs. They can't. Only businesspeople can create jobs and the way to get jobs created is to get government out of business people's way. To clarify this process to the electorate, Priebus should talk about de-regulati on. He should talk about the need to let businesspeople breathe by eliminating o nerous taxes so that they can re-invest and expand and thereby create jobs. He a nd the GOP leadership should explain this to the electorate. It's not all that c omplicated. Look at the figures, at the number and amount of taxes levied upon b usinesses, the regulations and rules and paperwork that are choking business gro wth, wasting business people's time, hobbling their progress, worrying them to d eath ---all of which PREVENT job creation. This is the core and nature of the wi despread uncertainty plaguing us. Every business person knows it. Every voter feels it. So, the GOP leadership shoul d explain how the uncertainty is killing our business and how uncertainty can be alleviated by de-regulation, simply by getting out of our business people's way . And if Priebus and the RNC leadership do not know anything about free-market ec onomics then they should read the brief, concise classic by Henry Hazlitt, Econo mics in One Lesson. The electorate knows that the government is spending too much, that cuts must be made. Why don't Priebus and the RNC advocate the closing of OSHA and the EPA? P eople understand that these agencies are forever troubling businesspeople withou t justification.

Why don't Priebus and the RNC advocate closing agencies like the NEA? There is n o reason why we should support "artists" we're not interested in and who don't c reate rationally defensible art in the first place. Why don't Priebus and the RNC advocate closing wasteful and inefficient operatio ns such as the Post Office? Why don't they talk about John Boehner's idea to clos e 70+ agencies and demand that federal employees pay their taxes? Why not advocat e cuts in the huge Congressional and other federal employee salaries? Priebus' "strategy" is as wrong as his "message." He says, "So whats our strategy? What are some of our tools? Well, hopefully youve been hearing about some of the m recently. But the latest one to be unveiled is The Book. The RNC has literally written The Book on Obamas broken promises. Its an electronically searchable data base of Obamas promises. Word for word. From 2008 to today. Its 500 pages and grow ing, a treasure trove for political messaging." That s not a strategy. It s more talk about Obama s failures. Priebus and the RNC should create a slogan and sing it out loud and strong at ev ery opportunity: "Increase employment by decreasing government regulation of bus iness." We need to demand that the government recognize that what an individual earns is the earner s, not some welfare recipient s. That one s life is one s own, not t he government s. That the right to liberty, which is the right to move about fre ely without coercion, gives an individual as well as a company s leaders the rig ht to move to another state if they choose. And that the right to the pursuit of happiness includes the right to choose one s own values and makes one s own dec isions about what to buy or not buy. All this Priebus and the RNC should say. All this is what we must all say at the top of our voices. It is what must be said in order to win by a landslide in 201 2 and regain our nation. ===###===
