Dear All, Climate change poses clear, catastrophic threats.

We may not agree on the extent, but we certainly can't afford the risk of inaction. We're not a manufacturer, or an airline, but we do use energy. Transport, desktop works, printing etc. are our main works. It all adds carbon to the atmosphere. We must transform the way we use energy, and of course not only because of climate change...This is about changing the DNA of our business to re-imagine how we look at energy. I am glad that our Environment Division is striving to put our companys feather in the global environment management cap by initiating assessment of carbon footprint of our activities. I request all the members of EIL family to participate in the data collection survey and feel proud. Thanks (A.K.Puruwaha)

Global Warming is refers to the steady rise in the temperature of the Earth. It is caused by the greenhouse effect, when temperatures rise due to the heat and light trapped in the Earths atmosphere by greenhouse gases. Whether we like it or not, it is inevitable that global warming is going on as we speak. Many countries have been meeting over the past few decades to discuss future goals and missions to reduce carbon emissions as a global community, but preventing further damage to the environment can start with small, everyday steps. Some states, regions, and cities in the world are taking the lead on developing emissions reduction methods, and may provide models for future national efforts. Their efforts are achieving real measurable emissions reductions and by pursuing policies and programs that have climate benefits, they have promoted economic development, improved air quality and trimmed their vulnerability to energy price spikes. It is time now to spearhead the meaningful initiative towards Environmental Conservation and demonstrate our company policy on environment. A platform is created in this regard and as a first step I seek your involvement by participating in the data collection survey for estimation of carbon footprint. Thanks (P. Mahajan)

Climate change, one of the greatest threats facing the planet, means that the transition to a lowcarbon economy is a serious challenge facing businesses. Carbon management lies at the heart of tackling climate change and can strongly influence sustainable development. Today we are bound to show our effort towards sustainable development as a country policy. I am glad to understand that such development can be brought by redefining our actions towards carbon footprint. As a first step, let us all participate in this data collection survey and demonstrate our will towards sustainable development.
