PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
As I write this article, I am so proud of the terrific start our team has had. They are 7-0 including wins over really good teams in LSU, Florida State and Oklahoma. I decided to cancel my stress test with my Doctor after the Florida State game because I figured if my heart can handle that ending; it must be in good shape! On November 17th, Rebounders members had the opportunity to participate in the 2011 meet the team event. If you could not attend, you missed a very enjoyable time. We watched practice and then moved up-stairs to the Andy Geiger room to meet all members of the team, including managers. They introduced themselves and then answered questions from our members. If you didnt make it this year, do try to attend next year. The event is free and a benefit of membership! As in past years, after Big Ten home games we will have an opportunity to meet in the Fred Taylor Room (off the Northeast Rotunda) and hear from an assistant coach and several players. This is always a great way to learn more about our players and to hear directly from them about the game. Bring your questions and join us after each Big 10 game. Thanks to Roger McCoy and all the South Stands volunteers this year. As you know, the merchandise stand is an important fundraiser for the Club. We dont have the final numbers in from the University yet, but I am confident it was a successful year and we will be receiving a nice check in the next month or so. Thanks Roger and team!! Dont forget to make your reservations for the away bus trips. Details are in Junes article later in this newsletter. And lastly, in the dont forget category, be sure to support our other fundraising activities such as the raffle to win a trip for 2 with

In her senior year, she was voted Big Ten Most Valuable Player. Katie was the first female athlete at OSU to have her number retired and was inducted into the Ohio State Varsity O Hall of Fame. Katie has played professionally for fifteen years and had many firsts: In 2005, she became the first American female basketball player to score 5,000 total points in a professional career; In 2006, Smith became the first WNBA player to win an All Star game as a member of both the Eastern and Western Conference teams; She also became the only player to earn both ABL and WNBA championship rings. . Hi Rebounder family. I just wanted to take this time to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Holiday season and a great 2012 New Year. It seems like each year goes faster than the year before. The other day, as I was making up my Christmas and holiday wish list, I was thinking and I discovered that there was only one thing I really wished for. I hope that if I wish really hard my wish will come true. However, it is a very big, Big, Big, BIG, BIG, BIG wish. My wish is for all of us in the Rebounders Club to make my wish our 2012 resolution. My wish is for every member, new and old, (not age but length of time in the Rebounders) to increase our commitment and support for our club. We have an awesome club but we need everyones help next year to carry on. Please consider buying one more raffle ticket; helping with the Christmas locker room decorations, or bringing treats or snacks for the team? Please volunteer when our president asks for members to help in working the south stands at the football games or hand out flyers at the games or at the visitors table? Please step up your commitment for our golf classic on September 17 by getting people to donate money for sponsorships; getting golfers; bringing in silent auction or door prizes? AND, most of all, please consider being part of the Executive Board by running for President Elect or Secretary. We really need you to become more involved so not just a few are making all the decisions or doing the work. After the first of the year I would love to talk with you about these great opportunities. Until then, I wish you all the BEST and GO BUCKS!!!! Mimi Mudrak, Past President mimimudrak@msn.com, 614-890-5136

OSU SOUTH STANDS MERCHANDISE SALES As the OSU regular football season came to an end, it is time to report the results of the efforts of 19 Rebounders who volunteered their time in the south stands merchandise booth. Rebounder name tags are available for purchase through the club at a cost of $4 for rectangular style or $6 for State-of-Ohio shape. This month we are announcing the availability of a Rebounder-engraved, 2-gigabyte jump drive for $15 (see above photos). You can request to purchase name badges or jump drives by completing a sign-up sheet available at dinner meetings or at the Rebounders Table during home games. You may also contact the projects coordinator, Betty Peters, directly via e-mail at petersbetty@hotmail.com. When you make requests by e-mail, please put Rebounders Name Tag on the subject line. Betty will notify you when your items are available. Payment via cash or a check is requested when you place your order. (Checks should be made out to The Rebounders Club). The name tags and jump drives are produced by students at the Ohio School for the Blind (OSB) as a training project. In addition to being a small fundraising event for The Rebounders, these and other such projects provide a little income for the OSB students while giving them vocational experience. We encourage you to wear your Rebounders Name Tags proudly whenever you attend OSU sports events, Rebounders meetings or any gathering where OSU fans may be present. It is a way to help us get to know each other and can also be the kind of conversation starter that might attract more members to our group. Betty Peters, Nametags

Our goal is for your involvement to be: win-win-win - for you, for Ohio State, and for its talented young student-athletes. ii

FUN FACTS

The Voice of OSU Womens Basketball

Sammy Taylor Two Ohio State women basketball players have been named as Big Ten players of the week. Samantha Prahalis was named the Big Ten player of the week in recognition of her performances in wins over Howard, Stony Brook and LSU. In those games, Sammy averaged 20.3 points, 8.7 assists, and 6 rebounds. Also, in those three games, she had 26 assists and only 4 turnovers. In the win over LSU, Sammy had a busy night and flirted with a triple double as she scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. In the game against Stony Brook, Prahalis had 25 points, 11 assists and 0 turnovers. Taylor Hill earned her first ever Big Ten player of the week honors in recognition of her performances in wins over Florida State and Oklahoma. In the two wins, Taylor averaged 25.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 3.0 assists and hit six threepointers. In the win over LSU, Hill scored a career high 31 points. At Oklahoma, she scored 20 points and had five more assists. Also, Prahalis has been named to the 2011-12 Naismith Womens watch list by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

If you have not been following Marty Bannisters blog on ohiostatebuckeyes.com, you should consider doing so. He brings the game up close and personal through the eyes of a person who has been following the team for years. Here is one paragraph taken from his blog: Wow, what an impressive win for the Buckeyes Sunday in Norman against Oklahoma. The 69-63 win over the 18th-ranked Sooners improves the Buckeyes to 7-0 on the season as they head into finals week. Not only did the team navigate a very difficult three-game stretch of LSU, Florida State and Oklahoma, but they did it doing many of the "little" things that add up to wins: A Martina Ellerbe rebound that kept a possession alive and resulted in a key basket on Sunday; Emilee Harmon stepping off the bench and providing four points (including two big free throws) and a rebound; Raven Ferguson hitting two large threes in the Florida State game; Scrappiness on the defensive end of the floor from just about everyone; and the continued great play on both ends from Tayler Hill and Samantha Prahalis. Confident, but not surprised, seems to be this teams mental outlook right now. The approach to Sunday's game in Norman was the same as it was in the prior six home games, made all the more impressive by the fact it was Ohio State's first road game with a still young team. iii
