Leadership Skills Working in conjunction with our training and development group, we developed -Pr ocurement University.- My specific area of responsibility was to provide guidel ines on when to bid and when not to bid various goods and services. This then p rogressed to my service as the fascinator of the chapter to the department. When tasked with major sourcing efforts, understood the need to have buy-in or c hampion at the highest level to insure the team`s success. Knew the various ass ociates who were necessary and understood what motivated them. The best example I have was the purchase of the Eckerd Company. I was tasked with leading a syn ergy effort that would allow us to better leverage our purchasing power into one single entity. We had only finished the first wave when Eckerd was sold again, but the experience gave me good insight to projects of this nature When it comes to evaluations and performance, there are no surprises. I coach e ach position on how to set goals and what is necessary to achieve them. I do no t wait to mid-year and end of the year on coaching. I encourage associates to b e thinking about their goals and how they tie into the goals of the department. When corrections need to be made, we sit together and put together an action pl an to get the associate turned around. This way, evaluations at the end of the year do not contain any hidden agendas, which keep expectations of the associate grounded as to how they are actually performing.
