1. Discuss Inventory models with relevant diagrams 2. A company produces a product at a rate of 2000units/month.The demand is 12000 units/year. The set-up cost is Rs.400/set-up and inventory holding cost is Rs.1.8/unit/year. Determine the optimum lot size, optimum time interval, optimum total average cost/unit time and maximum inventory. 3. The demand for a product is 200units/day. Ordering cost is Rs. 50/order, inventory holding cost is Rs. 2/unit/day and stock-out cost is Rs. 10/unit/day. Determine EOQ, optimum time interval, optimum total average cost/unit time and maximum inventory. 4. The demand for a product is 500 units/year. Inventory holding cost is 10% of the unit cost/unit/year. Ordering cost is Rs. 180/order. Determine EOQ; price break details follow:

UNIT IV:

1. The mean arrival rate of customers for a particular service is Rs. 20/hr. Decide whether its better to have one server with a mean service rate of 22/hr or two servers in parallel with a mean service rate of 11/hr for each server. Assume system capacity is unlimited. Justify the decision.

2. At a barber shop with one barber for service the capacity is a total of 5 customers. The mean arrival rate of customers is 5/hr. and mean service rate is 6/hr.. Find the average time a customer spends in the system. 3. Simulate a service station with one server for a period of 30 minutes and determine the average waiting time /customer and utilization of server. The inter-arrival time of customers and service times are constant and values are 1.5min. and 2 min. respectively. 4. The probability distribution for a automobile manufacturing units production quantity per day is given below:

Finished vehicles are transported by a ferry at the end of each day. The ferry can accommodate only 101 vehicles. Simulate by Monte-Carlo technique for a period of 15days and determine the average number of vehicles waiting for shipment and average number of empty space in ferry. UNIT V: 1. The annual operating and maintenance cost in I year is Rs.15,000 and increases by Rs.1,000 for each subsequent year for the first 5 years and increases by Rs.5,000 for each year thereafter. The interest rate is 10% per year Determine the optimal replacement period considering pwf. 4. Find out the Optimal group replacement period for a light bulb starting with 10,000 light bulbs. All these must be kept in working order. The individual replacement cost is Rs.1/bulb and group replacement cost is Rs.0.35/bulb. The probability distribution of bulb failure follows:
