Addiction Dependency Solutions (ADS)
The services we offer:
Community alcohol service - advice, information and support for those affected by alcohol. Services range from one to one interventions to group work. Primary healthcare brief treatment service - our staff work in GP surgeries and health centres to offer shared care in accessing and screening patients. We offer advice, information and support for pre-dependent drinkers and packages of treatment for those whose drinking is higher risk. Support for those aged 18 or over who may be worried about family member or friend with an alcohol problem.

Referrals:
ADS is open to referrals from adults experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs. Clients can self-refer by telephone, email or by dropping in.

Leeds Addiction Unit (LAU)

Patients presenting with significant complex issues together with alcohol issues should be referred to LAU. Such issues include: Severe and enduring mental illness. Complex poly drug-use / alcohol use. Pregnant patients.

St Annes Alcohol Services

The services we offer:
Inpatient detoxification. Detoxification for individuals who are stable on a substitute methadone prescription. Residential rehabilitation. Community based floating support.

The services we offer:

A range of treatment including detoxification, individual manual based therapies and service user workbooks. Home visits for individuals who are unable to access the service. A pregnancy service with clinics at St Jamess Hospital and LAU. A general hospital service for people receiving treatment in Leeds General Infirmary and St Jamess Hospital. A dual diagnosis team for people experiencing both substance related and mental health problems. Individual one to one therapy. Group therapy. Service users involvement and peer support group.

Referrals:
Detoxification referrals are taken from partners such as ADS and LAU. Rehabilitation referrals can be received from any source. Floating support referrals can be received from any source.

Opening times:
The residential services operate 24 hours, 365 days per year.

Carr Beck
Carr Beck is a scheme for women drinkers over 16 years old which allows its residents to continue to drink in a safe environment.

Faith Lodge
Faith Lodge is a residential facility in Little London for those who have committed themselves to abstain from alcohol and drugs.

Spacious Places
Spacious Places is a structured day treatment centre that uses the 12 step programme (abstinence based) and is for men and women who want to become alcohol and drug free.

Regent Terrace
Regent Terrace is a residential facility in Hyde Park where residents are permitted to continue drinking within a safe environment.

Young People Services

Platform
Platform is the Leeds Specialist Young Peoples Drug and Alcohol service working with young people up to the age of 18. Platform is a partnership made up of three organisations, Developing Initiatives, Supporting Communities (DISC), BARCA-Leeds and NHS Leeds. The Platform service delivers a range of interventions across tiers 1-3, all with the aim to help young people make informed and educated choices about their lifestyles and live safe lives! We work on an appointment and outreach basis and can see young people at Platform, home, school or any other agreed location with the young person. We will ensure that anyone accessing our service is offered a safe, comfortable environment and a worker who will listen and not judge. We believe that confidentiality and trust is a crucial part of our service and our workers will always try to maintain this.

targeted drug and alcohol awareness group works, health events, diversionary activities and structured detached / outreach work. Early Intervention and Prevention (EIP) The EIP team has been developed by NHS Leeds to ensure that vulnerable young people across Leeds receive an early and preventative intervention around alcohol to reduce the risks of young people going on to use alcohol, or at least ensure they are able to stay safe if they do choose to drink. This team will work closely with A&E, ensuring young people receive an intervention if presenting to A&E under the influence. The EIP also aims to offer targeted support to schools, outreach / detached interventions, diversionary activities and training to professionals in drug and alcohol awareness and mechanisms to identify young people at the right time and to deliver brief advice to them or how to signpost directly into specialist treatment. Health Interventions This includes substitute prescribing by a specialist GP, health assessments, Hepatitis B vaccinations, needle exchange, assessment for medical detoxification, sexual health screening, liver function testing, pregnancy testing, mental health assessments through a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) practitioner and C-Card and Chlamydia screening.

Platform has several different elements to its delivery including:

Community Treatment This team work across Leeds offering specialist tier 3 interventions to young people needing support around their drug or alcohol use. They offer psychosocial interventions, specialist family support, harm reduction, complimentary therapies, diversionary activities and substitute prescribing (and much more) all on a one-to-one basis. Criminal Justice Interventions This team offers the same support as the community treatment service, along with targeted tier 2 work specifically to young people involved with Leeds Youth Offending Services and East Moor Secure Unit. Young people who have committed offences directly in relation to their alcohol use will be offered the chance to take part in targeted group work to address their needs in relation to alcohol related offending. West Leeds Harm Reduction The harm reduction team look to offer targeted tier 2 support to schools, key services, young people and their families in west Leeds. This work includes peer education,

Referrals:
Anybody can make a referral to Platform for a young person, including professionals, parents/carers, relatives and even self referrals. Platform aim to offer the first appointment within five working days.

Opening times:
Office opening hours are Monday - Thursday 9am-5pm and Friday 9am-4.30pm. However out of office hours are available depending on individual needs. Platform are happy to work evenings and weekends on request.

Other Services
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) (National organisation)
AA has over 60 years of experience with all kinds of drinkers in all phases of active alcoholism and recovery. The support AA offer is free. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.

Al-Anon
Al-anon offers understanding and support for families and friends of problem drinkers, whether the drinker is still drinking or not.

The services we offer:

Al-anon groups are a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics who share their experience, strength and hope. There are several groups that meet across Leeds. There are no waiting lists for groups and it is acceptable to bring a friend to the first meeting for anyone that may be nervous.

The services we offer:

Sharing experience as peers and hearing experiences of recovered alcoholics. 25 groups meet weekly in Leeds. Patients who are accessing other forms of treatment are welcome to attend meetings. Patients that have decided to aim for abstinence from alcohol can call the 24 hour helpline and attend a meeting on the same day or shortly thereafter.

Government guidelines recommend that women should not regularly exceed 2-3 units daily and that men should not regularly exceed 3-4 units daily. Drink within these guidelines and try to have at least two alcohol free days every week.

We all need two alcohol free days a week.
