I think the State Attorney for Hillsborough County, Florida MAY need to comment to all concerned what is required of each Politician and paid representative of this County and State Elected Officials are right there on TOP in Tallahassee as well as BOCC Hillsborough County, Flordia plus employees of the Hillsborough County Plumbing Inspector Units and Water Department employees who push for these dangerous CODE CHANGES without anyone asking Health Department or Medical Professionals let alone mouthy OLD Contractors like myself who see what is happening in the field and try to report it to BOCC and Hillsborough Legislative Members who do NOTHING ! The plumbers remove fittings blocked with rust and iron, replace them and still attach brass shutoffs or fittings as before. WRONG ! NO ONE tells the plumbers this iron and rust on domestic potable water lines is a KNOWN KILLER ! As a plumbing contractor State Certified from Florida since 1984 I remain shocked that more people and media do not see the dangers. Can YOUR organization confirm this known Killer [Hemochromatosis] and spread the word to MEMBERS and all in your organization ? I use PVC or CPVC female threaded BALL VALVES to be on the outgoing ends of bad galvanized pipe then attach brass. I FIND THE BAD PIPING USING A MAGNET WHICH STICKS TO GALVANIZED OR IRON PIPING. Something Inspectors do not carry no doubt. One can also use couplings female threaded CPVC or PVC for the same connections but I like the extra ball valve and the metals ARE KEPT AWAY FROM EACH OTHER PERFECTLY. Every single day Ruth DeLaMater Bundy comments on Schools, Office Buildings and facilities such as Media or News Stations LOCALLY who have Galvanized piping coming up to brass backflow assemblies. Sadly the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioner's filed County Ordinance 03-6 with appendix B telling everyone it is "OK" to attach galvanized piping to Brass so long as the incoming OR inlet line has a DIELECTRIC NIPPLE OR DIELECTRIC UNION .... Some Inspector convinced the entire BOCC that this is correct rather than really protecting the public or school children, hospital patients and visitors with TWO DIELECTRIC UNIONS as this is the correct procedure for installations to prevent killing people.
