Name of course: Web Design Name of teacher: Kalli Falkner Prerequisites and standards for the course (academic essential functions): None Course Description: The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment as web production assistant, web production artist, or to provide supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in these occupations. Class Objectives: Create projects and presentations utilizing a variety of digital media/multimedia technologies, Design and generate video and/or animations in a multimedia project, Design and execute audio technology for a digital media/multimedia project, Use computer applications for digital media/multimedia projects, Produce digital media/multimedia projects. Instructional Philosophy: The business education program should prepare students for entrance into the workplace or an institution of higher learning by providing them with a sound background in technology and accounting principles. The courses taught in this program should provide students with the ability to think through problems. Materials and texts:, Office 2010 software, Creating Web Pages Using HTML, Dreamweaver and other texts and software necessary to complete assignments and projects, including but not limited to Internet Explorer, Paint, and WordPad. Papers and projects: Projects may be either individual or group, related to creating and editing web pages, creating and editing effective presentations using a variety of media, and creating and editing desktop publishing assignments. Grading: Computer assignments will be printed and graded upon completion. All assignments will be graded with the same weight. All assignments, including tests, must be completed on time. If a student is aware that he/she is going to be absent on an assignment due date, the assignment must be submitted early. All assignments must be completed and turned in early or on the due date. Late assignments will be penalized one letter grade for each day late. If a student is unaware of an absent he/she must make-up all missed work within the time specified by the Student Handbook and it is the students responsibility to request the missed work. Classroom rules and procedures: Students must follow all rules in the Student Handbook. Students must have a Baynet form signed by a parent/guardian and on file before operating any computer on campus. Students must be inside the classroom when the tardy bell rings. Students should be prepared for class with folder, pen/pencil, and paper. Students will respect the teacher, themselves and others. ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD, CANDY, GUM or DRINKS allowed in the lab. Consequences for violating rules: 1st offense Verbal Warning, 2nd Offense Parent Contact, 3rd Offense Discipline Referral The academic misconduct policy of the school, according to the student handbook, will be followed. The attendance policy, as outlined in the student handbook, will be enforced. All requests for accommodation for this course are welcome, from students and parents. Any student who receives failing grades during this course is urged to discuss this with the teacher. I have read my syllabus and understand my Web Design syllabus for 2011-2011.
