Resolution on the Establishment of the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute WHEREAS, most committee leaders, delegates, and

pastors come from the Northern Illinois Conference; WHEREAS, delegations from other areas of the jurisdiction make up a small minority that is outnumbered by the Northern Illinois Conference delegation; WHEREAS, transportation costs can be lowered with a venue closer in proximity to the Northern Illinois Conference; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute be established, effective immediately, FURTHERMORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED those delegations from the North Central Jurisdiction remain welcome to join the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute. FURTHERMORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the leadership of the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute considers the possibility of providing transportation scholarship to youth groups. FURTHERMORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the leadership of the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute applies for financial assistance to the institutions of the annual conference to defray the costs of the camp. Resolution on a Statement Regarding the Mission of the NIC Christmas Institute WHEREAS, it has been resolved that the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute will be organized; WHEREAS, we recognize the necessity of a mission statement in order to guide the establishment of the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that we propose the following mission statement for review and approval from the Christmas Institute Council and voting delegates: We the young people, of the Northern Illinois Conference Christmas Institute, aim to promote a culture of call for youth to serve not only the Church, but also the world, as we are called to carry out the greatest commandment of Christ: to love God and to love other people. Resolution on Mission Offering WHEREAS, the people of God are called to love God and to love our neighbor, the young people of Christmas Institute are cognizant of the need to alleviate human suffering; WHEREAS, there is constant need for humanitarian aid to areas affected by calamities; WHEREAS, each year Christmas Institute receives mission offering from its delegates; THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED, that the yearly mission offering, starting in 2012, be contributed to the United Methodist Commission on Relief (UMCOR); FURTHERMORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Christmas Institute Leadership Council will determine the UMCOR Advance account to which the offering will be donated or in case of emergency for the fund to be redirected to the Episcopal area. Resolution on the Venue for CI 2012 WHEREAS, the majority of the delegation is from the Northern Illinois Conference; WHEREAS, a closer location in proximity to delegates current churches increases accessibility for current delegates, potential delegates, and also potential speakers; WHEREAS, a closer location in proximity to delegates current churches allows for an efficient flow of resources and timely decision making; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the choice of venue remains near the Northern Illinois Conference for the 2012 Christmas Institute. Resolution on a Post-Christmas Institute Gathering WHEREAS, delegates have the need to reunite with other persons who may have started to form or already formed a Christian friendship with them and to strengthen a unique bond tied together by the spirit of agape love; WHEREAS, gatherings promote Christmas Institute and build excitement among delegates and momentum for the movement; WHEREAS, traditionally in the Philippines, post event gatherings have taken place and a desire to continue the tradition in the United States exists; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that a delegates' gathering will be held on February 26, 2012, at four in the afternoon located within the Chicago area, to be determined. Resolution of Thanks and Appreciation to the Pastors, Speakers, Staff, Adult Leadership and Hosts WHEREAS, the pastors, speakers, staff, other adults, and hosts of the North Central Jurisdiction Christmas Institute in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, have done everything, and otherwise left no stones unturned to insure a smoothly running event under their leadership; WHEREAS, the preparations and careful planning are all manifestations of the development of principled leaders that has been taking place with renewed emphasis with them as it is in all segments of our connection; WHEREAS, their work and dedicated service have contributed immensely to the success of this retreat as one that will go down as one of Christmas Institute's success stories; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that this delegation of the North Central Jurisdiction Christmas Institute offers and extends the sincerest and most profound gratitude to all the represented churches in the leadership staff and delegation. Resolution of Gratitude to Wesley Woods Conference Center WHEREAS, the leaders and members of Wesley Woods Conference Center, under the able leadership of Jeff Fry, Site Manager, and his staff have been and are such gracious and wonderful hosts to the 2011 North Central Jurisdiction Christmas Institute; WHEREAS, such wonderful hospitality and beautiful spirit contributed to the overall success of the retreat, and immensely added to the rich experience that was ours during this event, and; WHEREAS, we as a people of faith profoundly appreciate these attributes as expressions of a deep and dynamic faith on the part of Wesley Woods Conference Center; THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the delegates and leadership team of the North Central Jurisdiction Christmas Institute, all beneficiaries of this camps truly Christian hospitality, express our sincere appreciation and thanks for such a truly memorable event.
