Run a Report Batch or Export Projects as a Service from the Command Line You can optionally run batch reports and export projects as services from the Window's command line. Timescaled Logic Diagrams From the Activities window, you can use Tools, Timescaled Logic Diagram to export open projects to the Primavera Timescaled Logic Diagram application to generate timescaled logic diagrams. The Primavera Timescaled Logic Diagram application runs as a separate application with its own help. New Database Tables for Summarizer incompatible with previous database summary tables The summarizer for P6 Professional R8.1 uses completely new database tables that are incompatible with the old database summary tables. Migrating to this new release causes all existing summary data to be deleted. So immediately after migrating to this new release, you must resummarize all your existing projects that were previously summarized. You resummarize these projects by choosing Tools, Summarize. Summary only projects not supported Summary only projects are no longer supported. If you have existing summary only projects for which you want to retain data, then either before or after migrating to this new release you must import the project from Microsoft Project (MSP) and then summarize the imported project in P6 Professional. Option to e-mail when printing a report or report batch When printing a report or printing a report batch, you can elect to automatically e-mail the report. Removal of Fields The following fields were removed as selections from the Columns dialog box: Review Finish, Review Status, Integrated Project, Estimated Weight. Shared and Personal Resource Calendars Resource calendars can now be of two types: shared or personal. Shared resource calendars are the standard resource calendars. They can be assigned to multiple resources, and only users with Add/Edit/Delete Resource Calendars privilege can edit a shared resource calendar. Personal resource calendars are new. Personal resource calendars are similar to shared resource calendars except a personal resource calendar is assigned to only one user, and that user can edit the standard workweek, hours per time period, and exceptions in their personal resource calendar without needing any privileges.

To edit a personal resource calendar, the user must be defined, a resource representing the user must be defined, the user must be associated with the corresponding resource, and a personal resource calendar must be created for that user. You must have the Add/Edit/Delete Resource Calendars privilege to create a personal resource calendar. You can create and assign a personal resource calendar using the Calendars dictionary, the Resource Details, Details tab, or the New Resource Wizard. Activity Details Feedback Tab Enhanced The Activity Details Feedback tab was enhanced so you can collaborate on activities by entering activity-specific messages or feedback for other users to view; all users who can access the activity can view your feedback and provide their own feedback that you can view. Renamed Global and Project Privileges The names of some global and project privileges have changed. Product Name Change The P6 Project Management application is now named P6 Professional. Set Industry Type from Admin Preferences Industry type, which determines the terminology and default settings that display in P6 Professional, is now set using Admin Preferences, Industry Type tab. Adding New Users in LDAP Authentication Mode Adding new users when running in LDAP authentication mode has been enhanced for easier searching and importing of users into P6 Professional from your LDAP repository. Enhanced Risks Risks functionality was changed to allow risks to be assigned to activities and enhanced to provide the use of simple thresholds fields that the application uses to calculate overall risk scores and exposure costs, which you can use to perform qualitative risk analysis. The Risks view was redesigned and includes changed and new Risks Details tabs. Enhancements include the ability to assign simplified thresholds to risks; the ability to assign risks to an activity; the display of a calculated score based on the threshold assignments; the display of the potential start and end dates of the risk, and the potential cost the risk may impose. The Risk Categories dialog box replaces the Risks Types dialog box, and the new dialog box is hierarchical. In the Activities view, the ability to assign risks to an activity is provided using the new Activity Details, Risks tab.
