12/15/19: For Immediate Release

Give For Greatness is pleased to add a family and teen focused event to its awareness and funding campaign for Western New York Arts and Cultural Organizations with its first ever Students For the Arts apprenticeship program, scheduled to take place in the Spring of 2012. G4Gs goal is to raise awareness about the WNY arts community, existing arts education programs, and give students in both public and private schools the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of how these cultural organizations enhance American society. G4Gs Students For the Arts program will offer selected high school students across WNY a unique artistic experience in which they are able to work closely with some of the distinguished artists that contribute to WNYs rich culture each and every day. Kicking off G4Gs 2012 Give Season on February 20, 2012, Students For the Arts will be one of the campaigns signature fundraising events and a meet and greet with the Students, Mentors, and organizations participating in the festival. In addition to giving students the opportunity to be mentored by local professional artists, the event is also designed to raise awareness by featuring arts education opportunities in the WNY region. G4G will be collaborating with its beneficiaries to highlight some of the existing programs in the area during the festival showcase on March 21, 2012 at Kleinhans Music Hall. All high school aged students (ages 13-18) are eligible to apply to G4Gs Students For the Arts program. If applicable, G4G requests that students submit work samples pertaining to a particular apprenticeship that demonstrate their passion for or commitment to a specific art form. However, if no prior experience is had, applicants will have the opportunity to write a comprehensive essay stating why they would like to work with a particular mentor. Selected apprentices will work with their assigned mentor for the four weeks up until the showcase in March where their final work will be on display or performed. The application is accessible online (www.giveforgreatness.org/get-involved) and can be submitted via the website, e-mailed to studentsforthearts@giveforgreatness.org or returned by mail to Give For Greatness, 810 Main Street, Buffalo NY 14202. G4G is asking that all applications be submitted by January 15, 2012.
