Objective and Background

The purpose of this tool is to enable you to filter the data and obtain instant analysis of subgroups. For example,
a PhD candidate considering a research school in the north east U.S. can limit the analysis to similar institutions
by choosing to filter out candidates with MBAs, offers from teaching institutions, and offers outside of that region.
The data come from a hidden, password-protected sheet, which can be revealed in part by double-clicking
the summary statistics, or completely by clicking Format, Sheet, Unhide. The data sources are as follows:

How to Use the Salary Survey Analyzer

Filter by using the drop-down lists in the section labeled "Filtering Options."
The data for 2000/2001 is hidden. If you want to show it, click on the Year drop-down and select that option.
In the "Results" section, several statistics for all positions are shown. You can click on
the positions and data drop-down lists, turning on or off any of these options.
The schl_deg drop-down selection list allows you to restrict the statistics to schools offering
particular degrees, if desired. You can also include multiple choices in your sample.
Double-Click cross-tab cells (summary statistics) to drill-down to the detailed offers making up that statistic.
Using the Pivot Table toolbar, you could drag and drop columns to form new CrossTabs.
However, unless you are comfortable with this functionality, you may want to limit your data exploration
to the drop down lists in the provided layout.
Full Moving Support was assumed as $8,000
"As Needed" Research Support was assumed as $4,000
Entries with summer support but missing number of years were assumed as 2 years.
