COURSE DESCRIPTION ;
Guided by the values of faith, zeal for service, and communion in mission, the course prepares the students to acquire the skills in basic power plant of common types existing in the country (steam, combine cycle, diesel electric plant geothermal power plant and hydro electric). This is achieved by helping students realize their full potential (has passion for excellence) individually and in collaboration with diverse people, and thereafter, in participating responsibly in church (God- loving), industry, and nation-building (patriotic). The student is required to gather information and data from supplier of equipment or actual plant installation. This course will make explicit connections between theories and industry practices which will make you understand and appreciate the career that youve chosen.

Engineering Procedures and Reasoning

Identification of relevant data (given and required parameters) Drawings/illustrations/Diagrams

Accurately and proficiently identify and analyze all relevant data (given and required parameters, schematic diagrams). Used a sophisticated strategy and revised strategy to establish relationship between the given data and the required parameters Employed refined and complex reasoning and demonstrated understanding of cause and effect of the principle/theory discussed.

Effectively identify and analyze data, with only minor errors.

Attempted to identify and analyze data but some information was inaccurate or incomplete. Used a strategy that was somewhat useful, leading to partial completion of the task. Some evidence of reasoning used. Attempted but could not completely established the relationship between the given and the unknown parameters.

Did not identify and analyze data.

Strategies
Relationship of given and required data/paramaters

Used a strategy that led to the basic relationship of the given data and required parameters.

No evidence of a strategy or procedure, or used a strategy that did not bring about successful completion of task. No evidence of scientific reasoning used. There were so many errors in the process of establishing the relationship between the given and unknown parameters that the task could not be completed.

Engineering Communication/Using Data

Analysis/ solution process Logical sequencing of solution (orderliness)

Provided clear, effective analysis detailing how the solution was carried out. The reader does not need to infer how and why analysis were made. Precisely and appropriately used multiple engineering representations and notations to organize and display information. Interpretation of data supported conclusions, and raised new questions or was applied to new contexts. Precisely and appropriately used engineering terminology.

A clear analysis leading to a correct solution was presented. Effectively used engineering representations and notations to organize and display information. Appropriately used engineering terminology.

An incomplete analysis or solution not clearly presented (e.g., out of sequence, missing step). Attempted to use appropriate Engineering representations and notations, but were incomplete (e.g., no labels on chart). Used some relevant engineering terminology. Minimal reference to relevant engineering concepts, principles, or theories.

No solution, or the solution could not be understood, or was unrelated to the task Did not use, or inappropriately used engineering representations and notation (e.g. symbols, diagrams, graphs, tables, etc.). No use, or mostly inappropriate use, of engineering terminology. No mention or inappropriate references to relevant engineering concepts, principles, or theories.

Engineering Concepts and Related Content

Final answer/conclusion

Disagreements with data resolved when appropriate. Provided evidence of indepth, sophisticated understanding of relevant engineering concepts, principles or theories .

. Appropriately used data to support answer/conclusions. Provided evidence of understanding of relevant engineering concepts, principles or theories .

Answer/conclusions not supported or were only partly supported by data. Minimal reference to relevant engineering concepts, principles, or theories.

No answer/conclusion stated. No mention or inappropriate references to relevant engineering concepts, principles, or theories .
