SIGNALCALLER
3-YARDS FROM THE L.SO.S

1.) FORM THE HUDDLE QUICKLY Dont be the last man. a. It is critical that we start this process the right way in our practices. b. We will coach on the run and as a player you must listen to the corrections and get back to the HUDDLE. 2.) TAKE PRIDE a. The RIGHT-DT forms the HUDDLE, 3-yards from the ball. b. Keep it tight and dont put your hands on your teammates. c. Give everyone the time to get the call!! Page | 2

3.) FREE-SAFETY a. Step in and give the DOWN & DISTANCE i.e. 2nd & 8. 4.) STRONG-SAFETY a. You are to get the PERSONNEL-SIGNAL from a coach after you get the signal, step in and let your teammates know the OFFENSIVEPERSONNEL on the field. i.e. 21 / 12 / 22 / 11 / 10 5.) MIKE a. SIGNAL-CALLER there is only ONE-MIKE and he does all the talking, everyone else LISTENS. b. COMMUNICATION and respect for all involved. II. CALLS & BREAKING THE HUDDLE A. MAKING THE CALLS 1.) The calls will be made in their entirety, no excuses are accepted, no errors!! 2.) Our Defensive calls will consist of 2 to 4 segments. a. FRONT (Words). y OVER / SHARK / UNDER

b. LINE TECHNIQUES (Words). y JET / GAMES / QUICK-GAMES

B. BREAKING THE HUDDLE 1) After the MIKE completes the call he will say; READY-BREAK The group on the field clap hands on break. 2) After the break all ELEVEN face the offense. III. CLOSED-CALL-SYSTEM A. MIKE - IN CHARGE 1.) MIKE will make the call and HE IS NEVER WRONG - execute the call. a. CLOSED-LEFT or CLOSED-RIGHT which is also accompanied by his RIGHT or LEFT ARM going out the side he called. This is critical and there are no excuses acceptable for not doing it our way. B. CLOSED-CALL 1.) Our system of CLOSED-CALL sets our RUN-FRONT and does not have anything to do with the PASSING-STRENGTH. 2.) It is critical that we are all on the same page each time we BREAK-THEHUDDLE. a. Do not SECOND-GUESS the MIKE-LINEBACKER and his decisions, he will make the call loud and clear and accompany it with an arm signal for the Secondary. 3.) The DEFENSIVE-ENDS and TACKLES will have problems if they think they know, this is not predicated on a TE aligning in the C-GAP or any other excuse you may have. a. This is a system and will be played as such. b. We have a CLOSED-CALL system for each personnel group and it will be used accordingly, there is no room for anyone to be involved with the exception of the MIKE-LINEBACKER.

COVERAGE-CALL SYSTEM A. SAFETIES - IN CHARGE 1) SAFETIES: Make calls to adjust the coverage for the Corners and Linebackers. a. We play what they call, no excuses, THEY ARE NEVER WRONG execute the call. b. Examples: CLOUD / RICKY-SKY / LUCKY-SKY / RICKYHAMMER / LUCKY-HAMMER. B. OUTSIDE-LINEBACKERS - Make calls to our Defensive Line. 1.) We will have to adjust to the offensive concept we see, there are times when our SAM & WILL must WALK (remove themselves from the CORE). 2.) When we WALK our RUN-GAPS are voided; the Defensive Line has to replace the WALKED Linebacker. a. PUNCH / JAM calls allow us to play our run defense and have one of the key players removed from the CORE. b. Critical CALL-SIDE-DT repeat the call to the Defensive Line.

CHECK-SYSTEM A. CHECKING-FRONT 1.) MIKE LINEBACKER 2.) CHECK-IT is a call to alert all there is a change coming. a. CHECK-IT RESET CLOSED-LEFT y This means that the Mike saw the TE-TRADE (shift) or any other combination of SHIFTS that changed the strength of our RUNFRONT. y Critical that we all understand that the FRONT-CHECKSYSTEM will only involve SHIFTS NOT-MOTIONS.

B. CHECKING-STUNTS 1.) WILL & SAM LINEBACKERS a. OMAHA is a call that a STUNT-COMBINATION (OVG 2 RAM READ-IT) is off and we play normal. y Sam or Will made an original PUNCH call because they removed themselves from the CORE and motion by the offense brought them back in and allowed them to play in the CORE. We have no need for the PUNCH so the OMAHA takes the STUNT-OFF. C. CHECKING-COVERAGE 1.) SAFETIES a. ROCK & ROLL y y This call allows the two Safeties to adjust to a TE-MOTION scheme. The DOWN-SAFETY rolls to the middle of the field and the DEEP-SAFETY comes down in coverage and run force.

2.) CORNERS

a. KICK is a call that the Corners use in 3 DEEP COVERAGE when on the BACK-SIDE v. a NUB-RECEIVER to alert the LINEBACKERS to his RUN-FORCE responsibilities. b. If the Corner comes out of the KICK-TECHNIQUE he will make an OFF-OFF call.
