You may be aware of the proceedings of the Climate Change summit held in Durban, South Africa, where most delegates agreed to impose stricter regulations to cut carbon emissions, though, the major economies were reluctant to make any commitments. We, being a small economy will find it beneficial to go along with these arrangements, and also due to the lack of options. This matter surfaced at the recent conference held in Colombo on launching of SLS ISO 50001. Some countries, such as Australia, have already decided to impose a carbon tax by mid-2012 and many other countries are set to follow suit.
