Dear Friends GET READY FOR THE FUTURE ACCEPT THE CHALLENGE MANAGE YOUR ENERGY

Systems Care International

You may be aware of the proceedings of the Climate Change summit held in Durban, South Africa, where most delegates agreed to impose stricter regulations to cut carbon emissions, though, the major economies were reluctant to make any commitments. We, being a small economy will find it beneficial to go along with these arrangements, and also due to the lack of options. In these changing times, companies will find themselves not only valued by their net worth, but also by the extent of their carbon footprint. This matter surfaced at the recent conference held in Colombo on launching of SLS ISO 50001. Some countries, such as Australia, have already decided to impose a carbon tax by mid-2012 and many other countries are set to follow suit. In line with these new developments, we are in the view that, many Sri Lankan organizations will find the adopting of an effective energy management system, beneficial in the long term; especially considering the out-front financial savings. The benefits of implementing an energy management system [EnMS] based on the newest standard, ISO 50001, could be summarized as follows:

Lowering of energy costs and reducing the energy risk Reducing the organizations environmental impacts Creating transparency on how energy resources are managed Being able to identify future projects that will integrate into new structure Promoting energy efficiency throughout the organization Establishing positive external relations and enhance its public image Raising awareness and creating greater employee participation

We Systems Care International [SCI], are rich in resources, such as qualified management system auditors on quality, environmental, energy, etc., and professionals on energy measurement/auditing and developing of energy management systems. SCI can conduct specially tailored training and implementation programs to help companies to implement an effective EnMS. A customized implementation program is conducted on-site and typically includes: Conducting a gap audit (Assessment) Analyzing energy related data, developing performance indicators and energy baselines Identify significant energy uses and develop controls for optimizing energy consumption Coaching the energy team through ISO 50001 implementation Awareness programme on ISO 50001: 2011 Documentation in line with the standard requirements Conducting internal audit training programmes Assisting with the initial internal audits and management reviews Helping to correct system issues before the certification audit The ISO 50001 standard could easily blend in with other management system standards, especially with the ISO 14001 [EMS standard]. That is obvious as energy and the environment are inseparable. So, if your organization has already implemented EMS, EnMS could be integrated to it. Dear friend, the time is up. Get ready for the future; pride in being one of the first few averting the energy burden. Join the companies who have already initiated EnMS with us.
