1.0) LANGUAGE FOR INTERPERSONAL USE 1.1.b) taking part in conversations and discussions i. ii. Responding appropriately to questions by stating ,refuting and giving details. Participating in teacher-guided class discussions by agreeing to another and saying so.
2.0) LANGUAGE FOR INFORMATIONAL USE 2.1.b) obtain information for different purposes by reading materials such as articles in print and in electronic media i. Acquiring informational skills using the table of contents to look for information.
2.2.a) skimming and scanning for specific information and ideas ii. Noting important details.

1. Teacher displays all food items brought in by students. 2. Teacher categories food items under a few groups e.g. Junk-snacks, health food etc. 3. Teacher ask student few questions regarding the food item. 4. Students respond to teachers questions.

Example of Questions When you shop for food, do you check the label? Do you care about the content written in the label?
1. Teacher let the student listen to audio that explains the use of food labels. 2. Teacher asks students to relate experiences with food labels when they shopped. 3. Students answer the given questions based on the audio they listen to.
TASK 1 Example of Question What is the meaning by no coloring in the label? What is the use of food label? What can you get from reading the food label? 1. The student is split into 2 groups and asks them to create their own questions to be post to the students from the other group. 2. Each group will be form 4 questions to be post and will have to answer 4 other questions from the opposite group as well. 3. Students compare the answer after the questionsanswer session.
Students learn to think and consider health aspects before purchasing a food item. AVA Food labels brought by students
TASK 2 1. Teacher asks students to write short and simple essay. 2. Students will be given a few minutes to complete it. 3. Teacher then pick a student to read their short essay. Generate students ability to write.
Example the way to keep themselves and the people around them healthy by using food label.
Writing poem 1. Teacher explains the activity to students. 2. Students are divided into groups of two. 3. They are ask to create a poem based on their food label that the teacher provide. 4. Students are to present their poem to the class.
Closure 10 minutes
Example What was the topic of todays lesson? What values that you learn from the class today? Do you know now how to keep yourself and people around healthy? SKILLS -listening -speaking
1. Teacher goes through the days lesson. 2. Teacher asks students about the values they learned and ask their opinion. 3. Students are asked to be at the language lab for the next lesson.
