MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK desktop application is a services platform for Motorolas new generation of smart phones. In order to generate a great experience from the first time you launch the application, MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK provides various wizard-based utilities for you to deal with the essentials such as import of various types of contents and also setup parameters to take advantage of the automated features MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK provides. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK automatically downsizes DVD videos to clips that need only a fraction of the storage space, to a video resolution that is dedicated to viewing on a handset and also transcodes them to a format your handset supports. You do not need to worry about file format, codecs and video resolution. MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK even helps you to send videos to the Web and share your media with everyone on the Internet. The application supports some of the most popular social networking and content sharing Web sites such as YouTube and My Nero.

The following requirements have to be fulfilled to use MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK on your PC.

general system requirements


A DVD-ROM drive is required for installation Windows XP (SP2 or higher), Windows Vista Windows Installer 3.1 NET Framework 3.0 or higher. Windows Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher Minimum 1 GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent AMD/Intel processor (for Windows Vista 2 GHz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent AMD/Intel processor) Minimum 512 MB RAM (1 GM RAM for Windows Vista) 400MB available hard drive space for the standard installation 1 GB available hard drive space on the operating system drive is recommended Graphics card with at least 32 MB video memory, a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and 16-bit color settings (24-bit or 32-bit true color is recommended) Motorola handset drivers

optional requirements
Broadband Internet connection is required for the registration, the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK update, and the online communities. It is also required for the activation of the complete functional range (e.g. MPEG-2). An installation wizard will walk you through the quick and uncomplicated installation process. To install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK you must have administrator rights for all operating systems newer than Windows XP. To install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK, proceed as follows:

1. Close all Microsoft Windows programs and exit any antivirus software that may be running.
MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK can be installed from a downloaded executable file, autorun CD or from a device connected to the PC.

2. Start the installation process by a double-clicking on the installation file. 1. If you are going to install MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK for the first time, the Choose setup
language window is opened and asks you to select the desired setup language from the displayed drop down-menu. 2. Click the OK button. The files are automatically unzipped and stored on the C drive in a temporary folder from which they are automatically deleted once they have been used. The installation is prepared and the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK - InstallShield Wizard window is opened.

3. Click the Next button.


The Serial number validation screen is displayed.

4. Enter your serial number in the input field. 5. Click the Next button.
The License Agreement screen is displayed.

6. Please read the license agreement carefully and select the appropriate check box if you
agree to the terms of the agreement. Installation is not possible without this agreement. The Customer Information screen is displayed.

7. Click the Next button.

8. Enter your name in the input field. Corporate customers should also include their company's
name.

9. Click the Next button.


The Setup Type screen is displayed. Here you can choose between Complete (standard installation), or Custom (you can choose the store path for the application).

10. Enter the desired installation type and click the Next button.
If you selected Complete, the Ready to Install the Program screen is displayed. If you selected Custom, the Custom Setup screen is displayed and shows both the application components that will be installed, and the default store path.

11. If you want to change the store path of the application:

1. Click the Change button.


The Change Current Destination Folder screen is displayed.

2. Select the desired drive from the Look in drop-down menu. 3. Complete the store path as desired in the Folder name input field. 4. Click the OK button.
The Ready to Install the Program screen is displayed.

12. Click the Install button.


The Installing MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK screen is displayed. The program is being installed. A final window is opened when the InstallShield Wizard has successfully installed MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK.

13. Click the Finish button


You have now installed MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK icon is now available on the computer's desktop:. Double-clicking it will open the application.

If you open MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK for the very first time, the profile wizard will be launched automatically. It will guide you to configure a profile for your mobile device that specifies the connection settings. Whenever you later connect a device that already has a profile in MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK, it is connected without any further input of yours using the settings defined in its profile. Proceed as follows:

1. Make sure, that the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is closed. 2. Connect the desired mobile device to your PC. 3. Double-click the MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK desktop icon
MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is opened and its Home screen is displayed. If you open MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK for the first time the Profile Wizard is opened automatically displaying its Welcome screen.

4. Click the Next button.


The Create (Associate) Profile screen is displayed.

5. Select the Create a new profile option button and enter a profile name into the corresponding input field.

6. Click the Next button.


The Multimedia Directory Settings screen is displayed. Here you can define where MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK shall save multimedia files transferred from the mobile device you are creating this profile for.

7. Enter the desired store paths for your photo, video and music files into the corresponding
input fields.

8. Click the Next button.


The Link Your Music screen is displayed. Here you can define whether you want to link your mobile device to the music library on your PC.

9. Select the desired settings option button. 10. Click the Next button.
The Share Your Photos and Videos Online screen is displayed. Here you can define which of your online communities you want to use to share your media files. Please note that you have to be registered already with the online communities you select.

11. Select the checkbox of the online community you want to use and enter your username and
password into the corresponding input fields.

12. Click the Next button.


The Profile Wizard is closed now and the specified profile is saved. Whenever you connect the corresponding mobile device again, the settings defined in it will be used. The Handset Registration wizard is opened and the Welcome Register screen is displayed. It invites you to register your MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK application.

13. If you do not want to register, click the Disagree button.


You have successfully connected your mobile phone to MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The connection wizard is closed and the Home screen is displayed.

14. If you want to register, click the Agree button.


The registration screen is displayed.

15. Enter your address information into the input fields. Fields marked with * are mandatory. 16. Decide whether you want to receive information and offers from Motorola and/or Nero by
clicking the corresponding option button.

17. Click the Register now button.


You have registered your MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK application and you have successfully connected your mobile phone to MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The Handset Registration wizard is closed and the Home screen is displayed.

main window
The main window is the starting point for all actions that can be carried out using MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The Home screen is displayed by default when you launch the program. Hover over the logo in the upper left area of the window to display information about the application. A Search feature which allows you to search for media is provided in the upper right area of the window. Depending on which screen is displayed you can directly search for content in the respective screen. The footer shows the status of current transferring and transcoding processes in a Progress display. You can also pause or cancel running operations from there.

Main screen

The task bar above provides access to the main categories or screens you can work with in MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. The selected entry is always highlighted. The following entries are available: Home Displays the Home screen that combines the basic functions of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK. Displays the Photos screen that enables you to exchange your media between your PC and your mobile phone. Photos If you want others to enjoy your media files, use MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK as a posting platform for established Web sites such as YouTube for videos or Kodak Gallery for photos.

Displays the Music screen that enables you to exchange your media between your PC and your mobile phone. Music If you want others to enjoy your media files, use MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK as a posting platform for established Web sites such as YouTube for videos or Kodak Gallery for photos. Videos If you want others to enjoy your media files, use MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK as a posting platform for established Web sites such as YouTube for videos or Kodak Gallery for photos. Displays the Store screen that shows the newest Motorola products such as mobile phones, navigation systems and headsets. It also provides direct access to the respective area of Motorolas online store. If a device is connected to MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK the store displays only items that are compatible with the respective device. Displays the Utilities screen that provides various functions: You can check whether an updated version of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK is available. If so the update can be downloaded from here. An upgrade from trial to full version is also available.. In addition, you can change the language of MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK here and register your handset and/or your MOTOROLA MEDIA LINK application. Settings RSS Feeds Help Sync Displays the Settings screen where you can configure various synchronization and display options as well as your user information for the publication of your data on the web. Displays the RSS Feeds screen that enables you to exchange your media between your PC and your mobile phone. Displays the Help screen that provides the online help. Opens the Sync window where you can select the content you want to synchronize now. You can also change the settings for the transfer of the data on your PC and of the data stored in your phone.
