Cutting Instructions (for size 7-8)

(Seam allowance is included)

1. For the straps: cut 2 strips of coordinating fabric the width of fabric (42) and 6 high. 2. For the bib: cut one 9x 9 square from bib fabric, and one 9 x 9 square from lining fabric. 3. For the ru es: cut one piece of coordinating fabric the width of fabric (42) and 6 high; another piece of coordinating fabric the width of fabric (42) and 8 high; another piece of coordinating fabric the width of fabric (42) and 10 high; another piece of coordinating fabric the width of fabric (42) and 12 high; one rectangle 17.5 x 3.5 from lining fabric. 4. For the waistband: cut 2 pieces of coordinating fabric 21.5 x 3.5. Diagram A5. For the waistband loops: cut two pieces of coordinating fabric 3 x 5.

5. Match the right side of one of the waistband strips to the bottom edge of the bib front. Pin in place. Match the other waistband strip to the bottom edge of the back side of the bib, right sides together, and pin in place. The bib will now be sandwiched between the two waistband strips with right sides together in the front and the back. Ensure that the waistband strips line up with each other. Sew along the bottom edge of the waistband strips. Turn down the right sides of the waistband and press. (see Diagram B) 6. Fold 1 of the bottom edge of both waistband strips inside and press. Fold 1/2 of the side edges of the waistband strips inside and press. Again, ensure that the waistband pieces line up with each other (wrong sides together). 7. For the waistband loops: with right sides together, fold the 3 x 5 pieces in half, to create two 1.5 x 5 pieces. Press and sew along the long edge using a 1/4 seam. Leave the short edges open. Turn right side out and press again. 8. Place the top edge of the ru ed skirt inside the folded edge of the waistband. Be certain that the ru ed skirt is centered with the bib. Pin both sides of the waistband together, with the ru ed skirt between them. Top-stitch along the folded edge of the waistband, leaving the sides of the waistband open. (see Diagram C) 9. Tuck the waistband loops into the open edges of the waistband, and top-stitch along the opening of the waistband, catching the loops in the seam. 10. At the top of the bib, fold 1 of the fabric inside and press. Insert the straps in the corners of the open edge of the bib, between the front and lining of the bib. Pin and top stitch 1/4 from the edge along the top of the bib, catching the straps in the seam. Reverse stitch over the straps to strengthen the seam. (see Diagram D) 11. Determine the length of the straps that you desire. Trim any excess fabric from the straps (keep in mind that the straps crisscross in the back through the loops, using up some of the length before tying the bow). Fold 1 of the raw edges of the straps inside, and press. Top stitch 1/4 from the edge of the fold. 12. If desired, top stitch the sides of the bib, straps, and top of waistband.

Assembly Instructions

(Use 3/4 seam throughout, unless directed otherwise)

1. For the straps: fold the strips together lengthwise with right side of fabric together. Press. Sew along the long edge of the straps, leaving the short ends open. Turn right side out. 2. For the bib: Sew the lining fabric to the bib fabric right sides together along two opposite sides. Leave the top and bottom open. Turn right side out, and press. 3. For the apron ru es: nish the edges of each ru e with a surged or zigzag edge. Fold the edge of the sides and bottom 1/4 to create a hem. Press and top-stitch the hem. Gather the top edge of the ru es with a gather stitch or simply basting along the top and gathering along the baste stitch. Ensure that the gathered edge is now 17.5 long. Top stitch across the gathered edge to secure the gather. Repeat this for each of the four ru es. 4. Finish the sides and bottom edge of the 17.5 x 3.5 rectangle of lining fabric in the same fashion as the ru es (rolled hem). Beginning with the largest ru e, sew the ru e to the bottom edge of the ru e lining (wrong side of ru e against the right side of the lining). Press. Repeat with the next largest ru e, sewing it to the lining fabric just above the rst ru e. Continue with the additional two ru es until each ru e is attached to the lining fabric and overlapping the top edge of the ru e below. (see Diagram A)
