1.01 SUMMARY A. Provide labor, materials, equipment and services, and perform operations required for complete installation of Pumping System and related work as indicated on the drawings and specified herein. Work Included: The work shall include, but not be limited to, the following: 1. Chilled Water Pumping Systems. 2. Variable speed drives. Related Work Specified Elsewhere 1. Basic Mechanical Requirements - Section XX XX XX 2. Basic Mechanical Materials and Methods - Section XX XX XX.

1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Materials and work shall conform to the latest edition of reference specifications, industry standards listed below and specified herein and to applicable codes and requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction. Manufacturers of Air Handling shall have ISO 9001 or similar quality certification. Tests: Test pumping system in accordance with the appropriate section of the specification describing each system.

Product Data: Submit copies of manufacturer's latest published literature for materials and equipment specified herein for approval; obtain approval before ordering materials.

Shop Drawing: In addition to the stipulations for shop drawings given under General Requirements, the following shop drawings for each pump shall be submitted for approval prior to shipment from the factory. 1. Certified performance curves showing job number, customer order number, pump designation number shown on drawings, date of manufacture, model number, pump size, impeller diameter, impeller type, maximum impeller diameter pump can accommodate, rpm, flow head characteristics curve, consumed horsepower curve and pump efficiency curve. 2. Pump cross-sectional drawing showing major components with parts numbers and parts list. 3. Pump outline dimensional drawing showing overall dimensions, location of foundation bolt holes and size, location and rating of suction and discharge nozzles. 4. Recommended list of spare parts. 5. Installation, operation and maintenance instruction manual. 6. Details and wiring diagrams of factory or field supply electrical devices, controls or accessories. 7. Motor data such as make, model number, serial number, horsepower rating, rpm, voltage, phase, frequency, class of insulation, allowable temperature rise, full load amperes and locked rotor amperes. 8. Starter and variable frequency drive data such as make, model number, size, , ampere rating, line voltage, control voltage and frequency.

2.01 HORIZONTAL SPLIT CASE PUMP Type: Base: Horizontal, base mounted, Double suction, single stage, split case centrifugal type, directly connected to motor through a heavy duty flexible coupling, with gauge coupling guard. Pump and motor to be mounted on common steel base adequately reinforced against deflection, drain tapping, bolt holes and grouting hole.

Bearings:

pump rotating element to be supported by two heavy duty grease lubricated ball bearings mounted in heavy iron frame with adequate supports to base for maximum rigidity. Pump casing: High tensile strength close grain cast iron with smooth waterways, register fitted and bolted to bearing frame for permanent alignment, with bronze wear rings and tapped and plugged bottom drain and top vent connections. Impeller: bronze, enclosed type, fitted to shaft with key and locked in place. Shaft: one piece stainless steel, sized to carry axial and radial thrust with minimum deflection. Mechanical seal: Ni-resist face, carbon washer and stainless steel metal parts. Electric motor: Totally enclosed, fan cooled, class F, squirrel cage, induction type, with permanently lubricated and sealed ball bearings. Motor speed 1450RPM. Required accessories: Each pump shall be supplied with the following : 1. Gate valve, strainer, pressure gauge, and gauge cock at its suction 2. Pressure gauge and gauge cock, check valve and gate valve at its discharge. 3. Vibration isolator mounting with flexible connections. 4. Complete waterproof casing for each pumping system. 5. Electric Control panel , to allow start/stop and monitoring of each pump, complete with breakers overload protections, variable frequency drive ,starters and all required interlocks and relays , permutation and sequencing of pumps , auxiliary relays , pilot lights , terminals and IP 55 enclosures. 2.2 VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE

The VFD shall be pulse width modulation type, microprocessor controlled, designed to minimize harmonic and current distortion at the input power side. The operation of the variable frequency drive shall be governed by a digital logic controller, manufactured by a reputable company and designed to integrate variable speed pumping applications. The VFD shall bear CE marking. The VFD shall hold all necessary protection functions with regard to pumps operation. It shall integrate the necessary number of digital and analogue inputs/outputs to perform the required operation sequence of the chilled water pumping system.

The VFD controller shall include an adjustable PID control function to give a stabilized hydraulic performance. The following adjustments shall be possible: - Minimum and maximum frequency. - Acceleration and deceleration times. It shall allow the following readings: - Frequency/RPM. - Percent power. - Fault status. The controller shall accommodate an easy to manipulate user interface including digital display, keypad and signal LED lights. It shall communicate with the Building Management System (BMS), and display operational data, including: - Supply and return chilled water temperature. - Differential pressure. - System Pressure. - Runtime in hours for each pump. - Pumps in duty - VFD operating frequency. The BMS shall also allow: - Remote system start/stop. - Pump status: on, off or tripped. - VFD status. The sequence of operation of the chilled water pumping system shall be as detailed on drawings. The VFD and the electric control panel shall be equipped with necessary relays, sensors and required equipment and accessories to fulfill the required operation. 2.03 CHILLED WATER PRESSURIZATION UNIT The unit shall include break tank centrifugal pumps ( one duty, one standby), pressure reducing valve, pressure switch, float valve, isolating valves, interconnecting pipework, all mounted on mild steel baseplate. 2.04 CLOSED EXPANSION TANK Tank: Closed, cylindrical, welded, pressure vessel type, with fixed spherical ends, fabricated from high quality black steel plate for design working pressure of 10 bars (150psi) at 150 deg.C. be hydrostatically tested at factory to 1 1/2 times design working pressure. Diaphragm: Tank to have rubber composition spherical balloon diaphragm to prevent system water coming into contact with air cushion. Tank to be provided with means for easy removal of diaphragm for inspection and for inspecting inner wall of tank. Accessories: 25 mm female threaded expansion line connection on bottom spherical end and appropriate air valve for field adjustment of cushion pressure to suit cold fill pressure. Support: Provide adequate legs for floor mounting tank vertically. Paint: Tank to be painted at factory with durable enamel paint on outside and with adequate treatment against corrosion on inside.

2.05 CHEMICAL FEED SYSTEM Complete chemical feed systems shall be furnished suitable for handling corrosion inhibitor, anti-scale inhibitor and biocide. Each system shall consist of dosing pump, tank, flow meter, piping and accessories as defined below. Manufacturer will select all materials in contact with the chemical and guarantee their suitability for the particular service. Pump shall be mounted below the tank. a. Chemical dosing pump

Provide completely preassembled, packaged chemical metering pump. Package shall be hydraulically and electrically tested at the factory and shall be assembled to the fullest extent possible. Package shall be furnished with all required lubricants, special tools, and installation instructions. Pump capacity shall be adjustable through 100% of the range by manual micrometer dial while the pump is running or stopped. Pump stroking speed shall not exceed 60 spm. All parts of the power train must operate submerged in oil. The pump shall be sized to deliver the required capacity at 85% of maximum stroke length. Stroke adjustment shall be variable oil by-pass type mechanism, with the plunger powered through its entire travel. Lost motion designs are not acceptable.

The pump shall include an automatic vent and refill mechanism on the hydraulic side, which operates once each stroke. The pump shall have an external hydraulic relief valve which is adjustable. Double ball check valves shall be provided on the discharge to ensure accurate repeatable metering. The pump valves shall be removable for cleaning or replacement without the need to disturb suction or discharge piping. The pump shall be field convertible to automatic stroke adjustment without the use of special tools, and without the need to replace any major frame parts. The pump shall be furnished with a factory-mounted driver suitably sized for continuous operation at the maximum relief setting. The motor shall be integrally mounted direct coupled. No belts or pulleys should be used in the drive train or for capacity adjustment. b. Water meter

Water meter shall be of the turbine type with a removable mechanism easily and quickly replaceable on site. Meter shall be epoxy painted by electrostatic powder process. Meter shall have a remote transmitter reed pulser to be connected to a direct digital controller and dosing pump combination. c. Tank

The tank shall be constructed of (polyethylene / 304SS / 316SS) and furnished with a hinged or removable cover. Tank shall include connections for pump suction, drain, level gauge, chemical fill, dilution water, and relief valve return piping. Drain connection shall be separate from pump suction connection. Drain shall be located in the bottom of the tank for complete emptying of contents. Suction outlet connection should be on the side wall of the tank, a minimum of 2 above the bottom. d. Chemical Induction Pot

A 50 litre dosing pot shall be supplied and fixed where indicated on the drawings.

It shall be welded fabrication and tested to 21 bar for a maximum working pressure of 10.6 bar. It shall be furnished with 1/2 BSPF gate valves to BS5154 and incorporates non-return valve on the filling line in accordance to BS5154. The pot shall be installed strictly in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations.

EXECUTION Install pumps according to manufacturer's written installation and alignment instructions. Install pumps in locations indicated and arranged to provide access for periodic maintenance, including removal of motors, impellers, couplings, and accessories.

C. Support pumps and piping separately so that piping is not supported by pumps. D. Suspend in-line pumps using continuous-thread hanger rod and vibration-isolation hangers of sufficient size to support weight of pump independent of piping system. Connections: Install shutoff valve and strainer on pump suction and check valve and shut off valve on pump discharge, except where other arrangement is indicated. Connect piping to pumps as indicated. Install valves that are the same size as piping connecting to pumps. Install suction and discharge pipe sizes equal to or greater than the diameter of pump nozzles. Install check valve and throttling valve on discharge side of in-line circulators. Install non-slam check valve and globe valve on discharge side of vertical in-line pumps. Install temperature and pressure gauge connector plugs in suction and discharge piping around each pump.

Install check valve and gate or ball valve on each condensate pump unit discharge. Install electrical connections for power, controls, and devices. Electrical power and control wiring and connections are specified in Division 16 Sections.
