Just Around The Corner...

Listen Before You Speak In a conversation I was having with a friend he said in complete dismay, why is it when I go to a store, any store, and I tell them what I want, they dont listen and try to sell me what I dont want? I pondered the comment after the conversation was over and realized I agree with him. Why cant people listen and sell me what I want? I then thought about how this might apply to witnessing and giving our testimony. We need to show the lost how Christ is the answer and the only way to heaven, just like a salesman shows you what they believe you need. We need to show Christ for who He is to us, just like a salesman shows us the benefit of buying what they are selling. But we also need to show how Christ can meet their needs, and we cant do that if we dont listen to them and find out their needs. Now that is what the best salesman does and what we need to do: listen to what a person says they need and then explain to them how Jesus can fulfill that need. 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 Paul writes, For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more; and to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might win those who are under the law; to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law Thank you Church for helping the Girls in Action raise $78 for missionaries Jody and Ruth. This will help them buy a mattress for a family that came from Iraq with nothing, and will give Jody an opportunity to witness to them. toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law; to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. Now this I do for the gospels sake, that I may be partaker of it with you. Paul is not saying we should compromise or become something we are not but he is saying that we should be aware to whom we are witnessing and their specific needs. A lot of times we forget to listen in lieu of our program that we are following, getting the decision or because we are afraid of finishing the witness. So it might help to remember what my dad taught me; you have two ears and one mouth, so listen twice as much as you speak. Dan Schmucker Mens Ministry

The Week at a Glance

Anyway
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives; be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you; be honest anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, people may be jealous of you; be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; give the world the best youve got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway. Second Kings, chapter 5, tells of Namaan, an army commander who had leprosy. A certain prophet of the Lord sent a message to Namaan, telling him to go wash in the Jordan River seven times. Reluctantly, Namaan did so and was healed. Choose the prophets name from the list below: A. Micah; B. Elisha; C. Elijah; D. Judah (See 2 Kings 5.)

Message from a Grandpa My generation just might have been lucky. I had a drug problem when I was young, but I turned out all right anyway. I was drug to church. I was drug to family reunions. I was drug out of bed in the early morning. I was drug by the ears when I was disrespectful. I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents. Those drugs still run through my veins and they affect my behavior everything I do, say and think.Signed, Grandpa Pray for Missionaries: The Knight Family (Japan) www.theknights.multiply.com
