February 2nd, 2009 Dear Ms Scholz, I believe that a great contract representative should have a sound education in contracting, hands-on experience in procurement and be passionate about strategic international organizations. Having learnt about the position from ARAMCO OVERSEAS website, I feel I have the skills and the ambition to critically contribute to your winning team. Educated trilingual English, French and Portuguese I graduated from Mackenzie Law School in 2004, and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2005 in my home country, Brazil. During my studies, I developed a good foundation of Economics but my interest in global affairs pushed me to create an international relations group where I gained management experience. My first meaningful job was at the international legal department of Bank of Brazil the largest banking company in Latin America where I could master my contract drafting skills at the intersection of the legal and financial transaction teams. I knew I had found my optimal working environment. After graduation, my desire to work in a close-knit took me to the public sector, by the invitation of a former professor. INCRA - the Brazilian Federal Institute for the Agrarian Reform is the main organ in the Ministry of Agrarian Development. As Special Assistant working with INCRAs Director General, I was hired to deal with procurement of their projects. They needed someone to make the process more efficient while guarantying compliance with federal rules in order to prevent negative audit observations. I am proud to say that, while negotiating with local partner authorities (more than 17 different town mayors throughout the State of Sao Paulo), I could manage to tackle administrative and communication matters related to our multiple procurement procedures. My team was by nature multidisciplinary: engineers, geologists, politicians and administrators. Therefore, I had to be able to harmonise different ideas and perspectives in order to effectively conduct the processes: technical qualification of the bidders and applicants, negotiating terms of contract and amendments. Often under pressure and with short deadlines, I learnt that my work was directly related to violent land disputes on the ground. Later, the International Criminal Court came as a chance for me to see how international organisations work. I chose to give support to the team of the Immediate Office of the President because I wanted to prove to myself I could function in a multinational environment. It was a great chance to sharpen my skills in the diplomatic area. My knowledge and experience suited very well in the administrative tasks of a big international organisation: internal and external relations, management work, organising reports and preparing presentations. Working for ARAMCO OVERSEAS as Contract Representative is the next step in my career. I am enthusiastic about joining a leading company in the energy sector by landing in a job on which I can use all my skills and talent to be my long term career. This position is specially suited for me to expand my experience in international contracts, procurement and management. I strongly feel that an international company like ARAMCO OVERSEAS can provide me the most interesting career path. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to meeting you in an interview. Yours Faithfully, Jaime Jesus Lima
