This lm is self-supported & initiated nal year diploma project of Hari Prasad Udayakumar, at the National Institute of Design (a premier design school in the country), India. This is a detailed proposal of the lm for crowdfunding- in support, to help us make this lm. To tell a funny story untold. Thaka Dhimi Thom will be a low budget comedy short lm (duration of 20-30 mins.) It will be a lm primarily in Tamil language . Its a situational comedy lm based on the current scenario of reality shows and its impacts.

national institute of design


National Institute of Design (NID) - is Indias premier and one of the worlds best design schools. Its a multi-disciplinary institute with various branches in Visual Communication and Industrial Design. Under the Visual Communication section is one of the oldest disciplines of NID - Film and Video Communication. The Film and Video Communication discipline has successfully produced wonderful alumni such as Aniruddha Sen (Ad/Feature Filmmaker), Dibakar Bannerjee ( Feature/Ad Filmmaker - Khosla Ka Ghosla, Love Sex Aur Dhoka), Hitesh Kewaliya (Ad Filmmaker), Pryas Gupta (Feature/Ad Filmmaker who made an Independent lm like Siddharth - the prisoner) and our own Bangalore boy - Aloke Shetty (Ad Filmmaker). Like such, many more alumni and students of this department have moved out into the real world to produce creative works in various eld of lmmaking such as Television Commercials, Feature Films, Documentary Films, Corporate Films and mixed media too. Even till date, the discipline has been making its stance strong by winning awards in many prestigious lm festivals nationally and internationally. With such history this discipline provides one a dierent tangential perspective of thinking keeping them standout of the rest of the world. www.nid.edu

concept - thaka dhimi thom


Thaka Dhimi Thom is a situational comedy of two cold-friends who are classically trained Carnatic singers, from dierent backgrounds, who are frustrated about their repeated failures and easy- to-fame formula of reality shows. To vent their anger out, they plot a kidnap a strong contender of a popular reality music show. Without a clue of their next action or consequences, they succeed in their plan - by mistake. The three confront their anger, fear, lack and their self as each one continues to nd a way out of their plight. Finally, choosing a path that is their own.

synopsis
The world always seemed mean to the oundering classical singers- a coy Ramanujam & an extrovert Karna . It surely worsened when he came, Karthik - an arrogant nalist from a famous Music Reality show. They hated his success out of nothingness. They hated him. They decide to hurt him. But their decision was a tipsy one. Little did they know, that their prey would land right into their laps, by chance. Ironically, they cursed lady luck favoring them. Because, now they did not know what to do with Karthik. They plan to throw him back into the mean world but they are just too late, the damage has already been done. They have ocially been termed kidnappers . The TV ranting about a missing celebrity and a city on red-alert. It seemed like a bigger mess than their lives. But they had to do it - send him back. Their venture to save their ass , begins their journey of self-discovery, acceptance and co-existence of their music, their lives and eachother.

production
The lm will be shot completely in Bangalore featuring actors from Bangalore. It will be shot in 3-4 locations. Shoot duration would be max. of 5 complete days. The lm will be shot on a Canon 5D camera. Its full frame HD camera whose quality enables one for a theatrical release. The major production cost will be for the cast, equipments, food and transportation.

budget
This lm will be produced by crowd funding, i.e from contributions from many kind individuals. The total production and post-production budget will be around Rs. 65,000. The production cost includes the cost of cast, crew, equipments, transport, food and post-production. The lm will be co-produced by Kadhai Film Company which will be contributing in terms of script, direction, crew, entire production to the nal complete lm.

Director Onir and producer/actor Sanjay Suri have taken a growing go-to device being used by struggling small budget lmmakers and made it work for a slightly bigger budget lm with an impressive cast and even more intriguing stories. Onirs I Am is therefore a lm truly supported by the people over 400, in fact and its a funding method that will only be used more in the years to come.

cast & crew


The cast will comprise of actors from Bangalore/ Chennai. The lm will be directed by Hari Prasad Udayakumar - a lm graduate from the National Institute of Design, India. The lms screenplay is written by George K Antoney - a lm graduate from the National Institute of Design, India and Hari Prasad Udayakumar. Siddharth Nuni - will be the cinematographer of the lm. Most of the crew members are graduates from lm schools and independent lmmakers from Bangalore and shall function like a independent lm crew, the mantra of multi-tasking. The post-production will be done in Bangalore & Ahmedabad.

SIDDHARTHA NUNI
Siddharatha graduated from IIT Madras in 2005 with a BTech degree in Electrical engineering and then did his diploma in Cinematography from Mindscreen Film Institute run by Rajiv Menon. He assisted and worked with well known cinematographers in the South. He runs his productions house #357 Films in Chennai which is into corporate, ad and NGO lms. He is currently working in a Hollywood production Life of Pi with the acclaimed director Ang Lee.

FAROOQ MOHAMMED
Farooq Mohammed, a ne art graduate who went on to become a lm graduate from NID. Having the eye for a perfect frame with his photography background, he has gone on to direct and make two intruiging lms called KUTTY (FICTON) and SEVENTH SENSE (DOCUMENTARY).

GEORGE K ANTONEY
George K Antoney, is an NID Film Graduate currently working as a researcher/ lmmaker in AAMIR KHAN PRODUCTIONS, MUMBAI. He has made two very interesting ction lms called CIPHER and TALISMAN. It displays great control over the language of lmmaking. He will be co-writing the lm Thaka Dhimi Thom.

DIKSHA GROVER
Diksha Grover, currently a lm student at National Institute of Design, India. With her background in Jorunalism, she has produced and directed two socially relevant documentaries. Also directed an Award Winning Fiction lm called VANITY BOX which has been screened in multiple festival across the nation.

ANOODHA KUNNATH
Anoodha Kunnath, a lm graduate from NID, with an background of an architect. Her taste of structures re ects in all her lms. She went on to direct lms such as Verandah (Fiction), Handscape (Documentary) & Grandfathers Yakshi (Fiction).

SANDHYA RAMACHANDRAN
Sandhya Ramanchandran is a Film Graduate from the National Institute of Design who believes that globetrotting might just help nd the meaning that she is searching for, in life. When she is not talking philosophy, doodling or writing. She is currently postproducing her new lm: OVIYAM.

ANOOP SATHYAN
Anoop Satyan - software engineer turns lmmaker. Coming from a family of lms, he has the spark to narrate stories. He is also a lm graduate from NID who went on to make a AWARD WINNING documentary called DREAM CALLED AMERICA, which has been in the festival circuit nationally and internationally.

POORNIMA SUKUMAR
Poornima is a super enthusiastic ne art grad currently a teaching associate in NID. She has dealt into theatre and lmmaking in various facets. She just knows how to get the show starting as a production controller and designer.

TAJ ALI NAQVI


Taj Ali Naqvi, a ne art graduate, now currently a lm student at NID. He is great at bringing things to gether, an art rarely mastered. An extremely talented art director who will be doing the same in this lm as well.

screening avenues
National Institute of Design has the reputation of making many award winning independent short lms which have been showcased in many prestigious lm festival nationally and internationally. This lm has the potential to be screened in festivals. The lm will be released online for public viewing on www.hometalkies.com - a online lm release initiative by Pawan Kumar, a feature lmmaker supporting Independent Films. This site has a recently been a online stopover for people from across the globe to watch regional feature lms especially Kannada lms and has a noble attempt to stop piracy. An attempt for low scale release in theaters will be done. The lm standalone or a collection of independent short lms will be compiled together, as an attempt to target the larger audience for public screening. Recently made short lm - 0orukku Naal Paeru (O4P) have been released in many major cities for paid public screening in a multiplex. Also a possibility of showcase a lot of social and cultural events where the audience base gets wider. Most of us are connected 24/7. With the online community being so vibrant and active, what better place to showcase ones lm and have an audience watching a lm from various walks of life. The lm shall be uploaded on Online Video websites like Youtube and Vimeo. And it will be popularized through social media and blogs.

publicity
The genre of COMEDY has a faster reach to peoples busy daily lives. Majority of the publicity will be done online through BLOGs & popular SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES like Facebook pages and Twitter. Online publicity is the way to the reach a large audience, who are accessed to the internet almost 24 x 7 x 365. Many independent lms have reached a world wide audience with the strongest tool of publicity - the internet and word of mouth. And Ocial Trailers of the lm will be circulated online like virals. This lm would be one of the few independent short lms that will be made from Crowd Funding which itself is an achievement and is sure to get its attention for the same from the media.

Destiny is never met until you reach the destination, till then it is a run with hope, trust and belief with oneself and the world. A riot hit town, Sutangunj which is no more a place to live in or trusted in. Two friends accused of a crime, Mani & Selvan. A victimized father and daughter, Khalid & Sakina. All of them are on a run to their only hope of escape, reaching the highway on Sunrise. At the crossroads, choices were to be made, relations to be chosen, face betrayal, hatred, love and nally, meet the wrath of their own destiny as they continue ghting the other worldly evils. How many survive to see the end of the tunnel to see the sunrise and how much of their hopes continues to live on? contribution
The total contribution required for this project is Rs. 65,000. Interested individuals can contribute with a minimum of Rs. 1000. Each individual can contribute single or multiple blocks of the same. Individuals who contribute: Rs. 1000 will be acknowleged in Special Thanks in the opening credits of the lm. Rs. 5000 will be credited as the executive-producer of the lm. Rs. 10000 - 20000 will be credited as the co- producer of the lm. Rs. 20000 and above, will be credited as the producer of the lm. Will be kept in the loop and will be regularly updated about the status of the production till its completion. A special screening of the lm will be arranged and an HD DVD of the lm will be given.

kadhai lm company
The core members of this collaborative venture are primarily lmmakers, who are NID Graduates who have come together purely for the passion of narrating good stories through the medium of lms. Kadhai envisions to make lms at constant intervals with varying genres, mediums and catering to various audiences. This collaborative venture comprises of lmmakers, photographers, animators and graphic artists. The members of this venture will be a part of the crew to make this lm a possibility.

Hari Prasad Udayakumar


Post-Graduate in Film and Video Communication from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad before which, a graduate in Applied Arts. Primarily a director. Also ventured in-depth into cinematography, editing, sound designing, music composing and dabbled into photography and VFX. Worked for a Independent feature lm Software, Hardware...Kya Yaaron by Rabi Kisku, as the PRODUCTION DESIGNER and LOCATION MANAGER. Worked on freelance projects with Sony Music, Remedios Designs and also with many independent animators and lmmakers in Cinematography, Sound Design, Music Production.
