CONQUER CORROSION

with Tantaline Products

The Tantaline Concept
A Tantaline solution can be used as a direct substitution for specialty and exotic metals like titanium, nickel alloys (Hastelloy C-276), zirconium, niobium and tantalum. Our business concept is to supply the highest corrosion performance at competitive costs for engineers and manufactures who work with hot corrosive acids. geometry independent, both internal and external surfaces of complex parts (such as valves, fittings, process equipment and instrumentation) can be treated while also maintaining original critical tolerances.

Corrosion Resistance
Tantaline products have all the chemical properties of tantalum metal and are inert to almost any acid, including hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid and nitric acid at temperatures as high as 300C.

Technology
Tantaline products consist of a core substrate (typically stainless steel) that has been treated by our unique surface alloy technology to create an extremely rugged, uniform, inert and corrosion resistant tantalum surface. Through the Tantaline process, a gaseous atmosphere of tantalum is created and individual tantalum atoms are actually grown into the substrate, creating an inseparable surface alloy that is metallurgically bonded to the substrate. Further processing creates a tantalum surface 50 microns thick (0.002) with all of the characteristics and properties of pure tantalum metal. Since the process is

Key benefits valued by customers:

Priced 20-30% less than specialty alloys
Tantalines initial purchase price is typically 20-30% less than specialty alloys like nickel, titanium and zirconium. This makes Tantaline an attractive alternative simply based on price.

Overview

Increase performance by 5-50x

Because Tantaline takes advantage of tantalum metals extraordinary corrosion resistant properties, Tantaline has shown time and time again to exceed the lifetime of specialty alloys by 5-50x.

Quick lead-times
Tantaline can take advantage of standard stainless steel parts as substrates and no complex fabrication is needed. Tantalines lead times are typically 3-6 weeks for custom parts and shorter for standard parts.

Tantaline Valves

Tantaline valves are typically found in the most aggressive applications dealing with hot acids and highly corrosive media. Supplied by leading valve manufactures who are known for their high quality and reliability, the valves are then treated with the Tantaline process to create an extremely rugged and corrosion resistant surface. Tantaline offers a comprehensive range of valves and features, which include:
Size: 1/2 to 10 in size (DN15-250) Pressure Classes: ANSI 150-600 / DIN PN15100 Connections: Flanged, threaded and compression

Most customer-specified valves can be treated through the Tantaline JobShop.

Tantaline Instrumentation

Designing instrumentation that can survive in a multitude of environments and conditions is challenging. The instrumentation industry has found many uses for Tantaline because of its corrosion resistance to so many different types of media, making it a universal solution. Not only is the Tantaline surface extremely corrosion resistant, but it also exhibits superb thermal and electrical conductivity that can be critical for precise and accurate measurements. Some products that utilize Tantaline solutions include:

Tantaline Fittings

Tantaline has provided industry with corrosion resistant fittings that range from large oil and gas connections to small laboratory fittings based on Swagelok designs. Tantalines ability to maintain critical tolerances, while creating an extremely mechanically robust and corrosion resistant surface, makes treating even fine threads possible. Tantaline can produce a wide variety of fittings, which include quick connects, tube fittings and custom designs.

Tantaline JobShop

The Tantaline JobShop is a perfect choice for custom-designed or unique equipment that requires corrosion protection beyond what stainless steel can handle. The Tantaline JobShop solution gives customers the freedom to design custom parts out of standard materials like stainless steel while Tantaline provides the same corrosion protection of tantalum through our Tantaline JobShop process.
All complex fabrication can be done on low cost materials Critical spares can be stored in common materials Complex designs and geometries are easily treated All dimensional tolerances are maintained

Tantaline Quality Guarantee

All of Tantalines products are 100% guaranteed to have a pure continuous tantalum metal surface and be free of defects. We know our products will perform because all products are 100% inspected by submerging them in boiling HCl for a period of 48 hours. If it was not pure tantalum metal, with a chemistry at least as pure as specified in ASTM B-364, it would not survive.

Tantaline 3-Year Performance Warranty

Because tantalum metal has a nil corrosion rate in nearly any acidic solution, Tantaline offers a 3-year warranty for most applications. In addition, since the tantalum metal is grown into the surface and alloy bonded, risk of failure due to chipping, spalling or delamination that may be seen with traditional coatings and linings is extremely unlikely. For any reason if there is a failure of a Tantaline product, Tantaline will either reimburse, re-treat or replace the part.

More Than 15 Years Experience

Tantalines oldest products have been exposed to 15 years of continuous operation in a boiling HCl service. These products are still performing today.

The Royal Crown

Your quality mark is Tantalines logothe royal crownwhich is also the symbol of the element tantalum. The name tantalum comes from the Greek myth of King Tantalus, punished by the gods for the murder of his own son by being provided with fruit and water which receded from him whenever he reached for thema fitting metaphor for a metal that practically repels any corrosive medium that comes near it. Whenever you see a component imprinted with the royal crown, you can be sure it is a Tantaline product. Only components that can demonstrate the qualities of pure tantalum receive our royal crown.
