Attitude Submit the work on time +1 Show overall well-preparation and enthusiasm in the +1 work Copy the work from others 0 Not submit the work 0 Submit the work after the deadline -3 Show overall carelessness and sloppiness in the -3 work All the pieces of translation will be graded as well as commented and sent back to the members within 4 to 5 days after the deadline. Total scores of everyone will be posted publicly in a Google spreadsheet every week. On weekend, a suggested standard piece of translation will be posted on PD Facebook group for members to have reference. Regulation - Reward: There are 2 secret gifts for the ones with the highest total scores at the end of each month. - Punishment: There are secret punishments for the ones who violate the discipline more than 3 times per month. There will be friendly reminder messages via private email for those who have already violated the discipline 2 times. For those who just say sorry and give excuses to avoid doing the task after receiving reminder messages, there will be a warning message to them: This translation task is a compulsory academic task in PD, which measures not only your English skills but also your willingness to learn and commitment to PD as well as BEC. Therefore, your failure to fulfill this task will badly affect your department appraisal. (Since the EB has recently announced strict discipline and regulation for BECers to obey if they dont want to be demoted to apprentices, this warning is appropriate and logical). In case they still dont take this warning message seriously, PD leader or sub-leader should work with them to help them understand the matter. Targeted members: - All the novices. - Other members are more than welcome to participate if interested.

Online advertising.
The volatility of Internet stocks says a lot about what is expected from them. It says rather less about the true health of the online advertising market. Carat, the media buying group, expects Internet advertising worldwide to grow by 25 percent this year. In developed markets, growth rates are even faster. US first-quarter online advertising growth, for example, was 38 percent, and there remains plenty of room for further rapid expansion. Credit Suite expects US online spending to grow at an annual rate of 22 percent over five years, but that still leaves it with a total market share of about one-tenth. Demand from advertisers, however is strengthened because people believe that online advertising generates a on investment. high return Measurement is never easy, but based on survey data from TNS Media Intelligent, online currently enjoys a return on investment of 26 percent, compared with 17 percent for magazines, the next closest category. Online offers the opportunity for manufacturers to reach a larger number of consumers. A recent study found that US food companies are increasingly using the Internet to target children with interactive games and commercials, which is a concern for anti-obesity campaigners, but an example of the potential of rich media. With expected overall advertising market growth of only 4 to 5 percent this year, traditional media continue to lose share. In the UK, for example, print media advertising shrank 5 percent last year, while online grew almost two-thirds. Share prices of Internet stocks will continue to fluctuate greatly, but it is traditional print media companies that face the toughest future. (From the Financial Times)
