Answers: 1. To request a Knowledge Exchange account, go to the corporate site and click on Knowledge Exchange. The link is located on the bottom middle section of the main page. Once on the Knowledge Exchange information page, you can request an account by clicking on Create Account in the top right-hand corner. Within 24 hours of sending the request, you should receive an email with login information. Armstrong employees should be able to log into Knowledge Exchange using your computer login ID and password. In the domain field (below the password field), please choose the appropriate location (ie. SAA Toronto; API Buffalo; AISL and AHBP UK). 2. First check to see if the username and password have been typed in correctly. Second, please ensure the domain field displays the correct name. For all users, the domain field should display ARMLINK. For all Armstrong employees, the domain field should be set to your office location (ie. SAA Toronto, API Buffalo, AISL and AHBP UK) 3. If you are experiencing problems playing the video modules, you may need to install the necessary software. To do this, you will require administrator privileges on your computer. If you are using a company computer, please consult your companys IT department. To install the software, click on Options in the top right-hand corner of the page.

You will see two sections, one is titled Download Software. Select Livelink Eloquent Software.

This link will bring you to a page with three sections. Under Livelink Eloquent Player Software (header 2), download both Livelink Eloquent Media Control for Microsoft Internet Explorer, Microsoft Windows 95B or higher and Livelink Eloquent Offline Control. Under Microsoft Software, download Microsoft .NET Framework for Microsoft Windows and Windows Media Encoder Series 9 for Microsoft Windows.

You must install these programs on your computer. If you choose to run the programs, you will have to go through this process every time you use Knowledge Exchange. Please note, you may receive messages that indicate the software is not registered. You should click on accept or continue. 4. If you are able to view the video and PowerPoint presentations, but cannot hear the presenter speaking, check the volume control in the window the video is playing in. Make sure the volume is not turned down low or on mute. Next check the volume control on your computer. Make sure the sound has not been muted or turned down really low. If you are using speakers, make sure the speakers are plugged in, turned on and set to an acceptable level. If you are using a company computer or on a company network, please consult your companys IT department. 5. If you cannot remember your password, please email Ida Wong (iwong@armlink.com) with the following information: name, company name, telephone number and email address. You will receive a new password in 24 hours. 6. There is no set curriculum for Knowledge Exchange. If you are looking for product knowledge, the best place to start would be Product Range, Features, Application and Function. For theoretical information, start at Systems and Control Theory. Below is a brief summary of each section: Associations and Codes: Explanation of the NFPA 20 fire code. Service - Installation, Parts and Troubleshooting: Instructions on equipment changes and installation and operating procedures.

Internal Administration and Info: Details for Armstrong employees. Also includes Armstrong installations around the world. Application Basics - Armstrong IT Tools: Instructions on how to navigate ACE, ArmCalc, and other selection software. Customer Service: ARMS, ACE Online, and Order Entry The Sales Cycle: FIELD and Key Account Management UK Modules: Presentations on products which apply to the UK market. The area also contains theoretical knowledge. Sustainable Practices: Information on the integration of Armstrong equipment and renewable sources. This section also contains case studies. 7. If you would like to obtain a PDH certificate from Knowledge Exchange, please email Ida Wong (iwong@armlink.com) with your name, company name, telephone number and email address. PDH certificates are granted once a user successfully passes the required quiz (70% of higher) and has spent more than an hour on Knowledge Exchange. It is up to the individual user to ensure the PDH certificate is accepted by his/her own governing engineering board. 8. At this time, Knowledge Exchange can only be used in Internet Explorer (IE). Mozilla Firefox and Macs Safari are not compatible with Knowledge Exchange. If you are using IE and the login page keeps re-loading after you try to sign in, this may indicate your computer does not have Java software installed. You can download and install Java free of charge by going to www.java.com. 9. If you are using Internet Explorer 8, you must turn on the Compatibility View feature. To turn on the Compatibility feature, simply click on the icon located beside the address bar (please see image below). Alternatively, you may also go to the Tools menu and scroll down until you see Compatibility View. A checkmark should appear beside the text.
