Overview
The HP Driver Configuration Utility (DCU) is a small Windows application used to edit the configuration file associated with a particular driver. The configuration file controls the print driver settings, allow the installer to pre-configure default settings prior to installation. The settings defined within the DCU take effect when the driver is installed. The HP Driver Configuration Utility does not handle any part of the deployment or installation of the driver. Rather, the default driver configuration file is modified and saved back to the same driver directory in which it was opened (hpcpu*.cfg). A second option, the driver configuration file can be saved as [filename].cfm and used with the /gcfm command line switch used with the UPDs install.exe. Please reference the HP Universal Print Driver System Administrator's Guide and the HP Driver Configuration Utility documentation for full details installing and using the utility. The DCU program is available for download in the Printer Administrator Resource Kit (PARK) from http://www.hp.com/go/upd under Documentation tab.
