FM200 is a clean gaseous agent which has been universally accepted as the most suitable extinguishant to supersede Halon

1301. It gives superior extinguishing performance, is an environmentally friendly agent and is safe to use in manned areas.

FM200 Fixed Fire Fighting System

FIRE SYSTEMS PRODUCT RANGE
s s Rapid fire knockdown within ten seconds Minimal oxygen reduction - safe in occupied and unoccupied areas Environmentally safe agent - zero ozone depletion Easily installed and relocated Can be located within risk area without the need for a separate cylinder room Electrical, pneumatically or manual activation of system Can be linked in to existing detection control systems Clean agent that leaves no oily-residues or particles FM200 will protect at low concentrations of extinguishant, between 7.5 and 9%, a design which ensures a rapid fire knockdown essential for personnel and property protection. The extinguishant has a low toxicity rating so is safe in manned areas, and because the FM200 system assures rapid fire knockdown, inhalation of fumes from burning materials causing the fire are minimised and smoke build up restricted. The FM200 extinguishant is environmentally friendly, has zero ozone depletion ratings and a very short atmospheric life span. As FM200 is a liquifiable gas, a wide range of fill ratios are available which ensures a cost-effective application of container and contents through accurate systems calculations. Systems are individually tailored to meet exact requirements so there is efficient use of extinguishant whilst offering effective protection. Cylinders are only pressurised at 25 bar and can be located within the risk area without a separate cylinder room enclosure so there is cost effective use of pipework, layout and materials. The cylinders are easily installed and relocated and can be vertically or horizontally mounted. In an emergency, release of FM200 may be triggered automatically by Chubb smoke detectors and detection panel, or manually by the Break Glass switch mounted on the front of a control panel. The system can be connected to existing detection control stations on site or be provided with Chubbs own detection package.

Rapid Extinguishing Power in Under 10 Seconds

Rapid fire knockdown within ten seconds FM 200 will protect at low concentrations of extinguishant, between 7.74 and 9%, a design which ensures a rapid fire knockdown essential for personnel and property protection. This low concentration also means that over pressurisation of rooms and enclosures is restricted, an important feature sometimes overlooked. FM200 will completely extinguish Class A, B and C Fires in ten seconds or less before the fire can develop. Stopping the fire in these critical first few seconds can save thousands of pounds worth of damage to equipment and consequent loss of production. These systems are equally suitable for flammable mixtures of fuel found in, for example, marine engine compartments or for electrically sensitive equipment in communication technology.

Personnel safety in the event of discharging the FM 200 system in an emergency is safeguarded as the extinguishant has a low toxicity rating. It is safe for automatic operation in areas where staff are at work and has no adverse effect on humans at concentration of 9%. (Systems are designed for lower concentrations that 9%) Additionally, because FM 200 systems assures rapid fire knockdown, inhalation of fumes from the burning materials causing the fire are minimised and smoke build up is restricted.

Environmentally Safe
Zero ozone depletion In the past, certain gases such as Halon 1301 were utilised in systems until it was realised that they were depleting the ozone layer. Chubb Fire was the first company to withdraw from the use of these gases in their products even before the ratification of the Montreal protocol banning Halon production. FM200 extinguishant agent encompasses all the parameters of the Montreal Protocol and has zero ozone depletion rating and a short atmospheric life span.

Clean, effective extinguishing agent

No particles or oily-residues to damage delicate equipment FM200 is a clean gaseous agent that leaves no particles or oily-residues to damage electronic instruments, computers, software, data files, communications equipment or other delicate equipment. Following a fire, a FM200 is removed from the protected area by ventilation enabling you to resume normal operations with minimum delay. Other common fire fighting extinguishant such as water, foam or dry chemicals can cause more damage than the fire to delicate equipment.

Practical Solution
Compact Cylinder Requirement As the FM200 is a liquifiable gas, a wide range of fill ratios are available which ensures a cost-effective application of container and contents through accurate systems calculations FM200 systems incorporate advanced design criteria to increase flow and installation efficiency by 100%, giving maximum flexibility to new and retrofit installations FM200 system cylinders are only pressurised at 25 bar and can be located within the risk area without a separate cylinder room enclosure

Technically Advanced Features

Numerous safety and unique system extinguishing features, particularly: A range of high flow, low loss valves for maximum system pipe runs Nine sizes of containers allowing the quantity of gas to be precisely matched to the volume of risk Container valve critical flow paths optimised by computer modelling techniques Plug-in flexible hose connectors to simplify installation Manifolds with built-in check valves permitting low mounting heights Provision for contents pressure monitoring Integral discharge nozzels on smaller containers Safe transportation and installation Can be repeatedly tested following installation Container valves are latch closed for transportation Vibration proof solenoid actuator

Detection
Activation of the Chubb 200 fire system can be carried out electrically, pneumatically, or manually with either local or remote control. The system can be connected to existing detection control stations situated on site or be provided with Chubbs own detection package.
