candidate for this treatment after doing an orthopedic examination. I do not need but do find it beneficial if a patient has an MRl so we know exactly what we are dealing with. If you have any questions regarding this procedure feel free to contact my office.
A. Computerized axial traction is also known as a decompression table. This piece of equipment is a traction table with a programmable computer which cycles intermittent traction to stretch the intervertebral discs and facet joints in a patient's neck or low back. This machine is typically programmed for Raymond Stricker approximately a 15 minute treatment with 40 seconds D.C. FIAMA, Dipl. of stretch and 20 seconds of relaxation between each cycle. The goal is to take pressure off of any nerves AC LLC that maybe pinched by a disc. The goal is to also help open up the intervertebral disc spaces, as well as open up the facet joints. I have been using decompression therapy in my practice for approximately 9 1/2 years and have gotten good results with many patients. This table works excellent for patients with mild and moderate disc bulges in their neck or back, and may offer some relief for patients with moderate to severe disc bulges. This table is also very helpful for patients with facet syndromes and may offer some relief for people with other injuries to their back. I typically determine if a patient is a good

Sump Pump Maintenance Here are some quarterly and annual maintenance tips in caring for your sump pump: Every three months: 1. Clean the pump inlet screen. 2. Check the power cord and make sure the cord is connected to power. 3. Pour a bucket of water into the sump to raise Roger Ford the float and make sure the pump turns on, adjusting the float if required. At least once a year: 1. Remove the pump from the sump to inspect and clean it. 2. Clean out the sump. 3. Oil or grease the bearings if required by manufacturer. 4. Check the electrical cord 5. Pour water into the sump to raise the float and adjust if needed. Also a good idea is installing a secondary battery back-up sump pump in case of a power outage. These steps can help in avoiding a costly water loss under your homeowners insurance. Call us, your local independent insurance agent for your insurance needs.

Q. Do I need to file a tax return this year? A. You are required to file a federal income tax return if your income is above a certain level depending on your filing status, age, and the type of income you receive. However, some taxpayers should file even Darren Bowman, CPA if they arent required to because they may get a refund if they had taxes withheld or are eligible for refundable credits. The filing threshold for most individuals is the sum of the applicable personal exemption amount plus the applicable standard deduction amount. These amounts vary based on filing status and age. Some of the more common refundable credits are the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Child Tax Credit, the American Opportunity Credit for education expenses, and the Adoption Credit. If you have any questions concerning whether you are required to file a tax return, please give us a call.
TAXES
MONEY MANAGEMENT
A. For 3 years, America has been budgetless. Currently, the Senate is debating whether to even vote on having a budget. So why arent Americans concerned? Big numbers seem confusing. Last year, the federal budget was $3.82 trillion ($2.17 trillion paid with taxes and the remaining $1.65 trillion borrowed). Roger Ford However, after a long debate, because the US has outstanding debt of $15.3 trillion, we only cut $3.82 billion (that is billion with a B, not trillion with a T) in spending last year. Lets simplify both rhetorically and mathematically. We have a family spending $38,200/yr. The fathers annual income is $21,700. Every year, the family adds $16,500 in credit card debt. One day, the father wants to set a budget and asks the wife and kids to cut back on spending. The wife tells her husband to get a second job. After a long debate, even though they have credit card debt of $153,630, they decide not to set a budget and to only eliminate the cable bill of $385/yr. Simply, thats the argument. One side wants the dad to keep working more (raise taxes), while the other side wants the family to cut the spending. In the end, the family adds another $16,115 of credit card debt, and the US adds another $1.65 trillion! How is all of this government spending affecting your retirement dollars, and what can you do to protect yourself? Call us for a complimentary appointment to discuss your individual retirement needs.

We had a great response to our last article. When it comes to retirement savings, getting a CD yield of 1.6% in an inflation environment of 3% isnt a good deal. Apparently, quite a number of you agree that getting -1.4% a year over five years is not a good investment. In fact, if you do not achieve a rate of 3% or more, your retirement dollars will continue to lose value. This 3% loss is compounded if your money is under a mattress or sitting in a safe. In 5 years, that money will lose 15% of its purchasing power. Inflation is a horrible destroyer of wealth. Since 1965, the dollar has fallen a staggering 86%. Think about it this way. How much did your very first home purchase cost you? How much did your last new car purchase cost? Thats a real life example of the cost of a 3% inflation rate! In his February 2012 letter to shareholders, Warren Buffet, focusing on upcoming inflation, was a bit blunter. Money-market funds, bonds, mortgages, bank deposits, and other instrumentsare thought of as safe. In truth, they are among the most dangerous assets. Mr. Buffet chides that some should come with a warning label. Now before going on, Im licensed to sell CDs and fixed rate products. That being said, should you renew a 5 year CD at 2%? My personal belief and professional opinion is no. The 2% rate doesnt keep up with inflation. Furthermore, the Fed never counts food and energy into their inflation calculation. Did you notice Coke and Pepsi are both marketing a 1.5 liter bottle for a $1? In another year, the 2 liter bottle for just a $1 may be long gone, even with coupons. Thats food inflation. Does it cost you more or less when you fill up your gas tank? Ive built a business on 27 years of not just managing money but managing risk. Inflation is a huge risk! A harder question to answer is should I break a CD in this low interest environment? Well, that depends. If you do the math, is it worth it to hold it? Penalties are never easy to stomach, but every day you hold an inferior product, there is a self-imposed penalty unless the yield is outpacing inflation. Furthermore, what if interest rates tick back up to 5%? If youd break a 1.6% CD for that chance, let me ask a follow-up question. Why should your retirement dollars shrink in value while you wait for the 5% CD to return? With the Federal Reserve keeping rates low until 2014, your money could easily lose 6-10% in purchasing power before you get the chance at a 5% CD (keeping in mind inflation isnt going away). Weve had a couple of new people stop in to Conservative Financial Solutions this week. I explained to them my philosophy of managing not only return but risk. Our team assists people in managing the second half of their financial life. I am licensed in three investment areas. If you want fixed rates, we can compare and quote the best. If you want a guaranteed fixed product that is linked to the market, Im licensed there. If you want to invest in the market, we have managers with over 150 years of combined experience that have long track records of outperforming the market by taking advantage of worldwide investment opportunity. For instance, a New Zealand telecom company has a dividend above 8%. Regardless of what you are looking for, you need to manage risk and return. At Conservative Financial Solutions, you have seasoned professionals who can do this. Could I sell you a CD at a -1.4%? I could, but your retirement dollars need to outpace inflation to last. Furthermore, Ive also built a business on not charging exorbitant fees, but rather on helping our clients grow their assets and strategically pass their networth to their heirs. Were booked up for the rest of February, but feel free to call our office at 513-367-1113, and well schedule a complimentary appointment to explain how we manage return, risks, and estates.
