A partition may be defined as a division or wall provided for the purpose of dividing one room or portion of a room. Generally partitions are designed to carry their own weight only. But sometime they act as a support for floor joist and roof truss, etc. In the latter the partitions are known as load bearing partitions and they should be designed to carry the load coming upon them. They may be taken up to full floor height or up to eye level i.e. 2 to 2.50. Generally the partition consists of a structural frame with an in filler which may be glass, plywood etc. But frameless partitions are also available.

ALUMINIUM PARTITIONS:
They are widely used for office, clinics and home partitions. The frame Consist of extruded aluminium sections called as SP or DP. The in-filler can be Nova pan Glass or plywood. The various sizes in which the sections are available are as follows standard size of the section is 1.5 x2.5 (width), 12 to 16 (height).Powder coating is done on the sections to make it chemical resistant. Metal screws are used to fix the section to the walls and the floors. Glazing clip is used on both the sides of glass to keep it in place. The cost of making Aluminium partition varies from Rs 105/- to Rs 175/- Sq ft. They can be used to make full height partitions or half height partitions. The advantages of Aluminium partition are as follows I. II. III. IV. They are chemical resistant They are termite proof They are water proof They are light in weight than the traditional brick wall partitions
AREOCON PANELS
Aerocon is a sandwich panel of two fiber-reinforced cement sheets enclosing a light-weight core composed of Portland cement, binders and a mix of silicaceous and micaceous material aggregate. It has the unique Tongue and groove system which facilitates rapid construction with minimum effort. Aerocon sandwich panels are an
excellent substitute for plaster-board, plywood, particleboard and brickwall partitions as they combine all the desirable attributes for partitions. They score over conventional alternatives by virtue of their fire-and moisture-resistance properties and sheer strength to take workaday
knocks in their stride. Because they are amenable to rapid installation there is no disruption of work and / or business.
A Complete Solutions System: Aerocon Sandwich panels are more than just plain sheets. They are offered as a total system with a tongue and groove joining system along with accessories like pre-designed steel channels. These panels slide in and rest snugly at the base, and you have a readymade system for easy and rapid assembly. All the Strength for all the Toughness: Aerocon panels are strong enough to withstand the rough and tumble of everyday life. Mainly because of their high strength-toweight ratio, they are capable of taking normal to hard knocks and pressure in their stride. Moisture Resistance: Aerocon panels resist moisture from seeping in either from the atmosphere or even from accidental spills. They are also dimensionally stable and warp-free, a definite plus for longevity. Fire-Resistance: Aerocon panels are non-combustible. These have been tested at CBRI Roorkee for their fire resistance property as per BS476 and found to be fire rated for 1 hr. For 50mm and 2 hrs. For 75mm thickness panels. What's more, no toxic fumes are emitted in case of fire, making them very safe and ideal for use in sensitive areas. Resistence to Termites & Rodents: Aerocon panels are not susceptible to attack by termites or rodents. Aerocon partitions, therefore, stay clean and intact for a long, long time. Thermal Insulation: Aerocon panels impart good thermal insulation and hence are most suitable in tropical weather conditions. This helps in saving on air conditioning and energy costs. Acoustic Insulation: Aerocon panels offer excellent insulation against sound and noise. STC rating of 33-36 db makes them most suitable for hospitals/nursing homes, libraries, schools and offices where the need for peace and quiet is paramount. Ease of Installation: Aerocon tongue & groove joining system allows faster construction. Aerocon panels can be easily worked with conventional carpenter's tools and is, therefore, easy to install. They are easily transportable because of their Conference Room in a Corporate light-weight and aids speedy installation. Office Excellent Surface finish: The smooth surface of Aerocon panels allows them to take a range of surface finishes like paint, wall-papering and other decorative treatments as desired.
Cost: Rs 120/- with fixing .Customized and assembled on site. Used for full height and half height partitions Can painted to match the interiors of the room.

With the use of standard components, glasses with a thickness of between 6/7mm are generally specified; however, other thicknesses of glass can be accommodated within the system. Fire rating for centre single and double glazing is achieved with the use of a number of additional steel beads and liners, however, only approved glass types may be used. Single offset glazing is available as non-fire rated. Aluminium glazing profiles have screw-ports that allow frames to be assembled prior to installation.
used for false ceilings. Generally the thickness varies from 4-30mm and the size varies from 1200mmx2400mmx6...12...18.Density of the boards is about 1.30g/cm3 and the thermal conductivity is <0.20w/mk. The main usage:Partition, suspended ceiling

ROOM DIVIDERS:
Room divider are partitions which are generally used to visually divide the room or the space they are generally moveable or folding type. They can also be made functional by using them as storage or book racks as shown in the picture. Generally materials like Laminated Nova pan (size 6X8 ft )or MDF Boards are which are Termite proof but not waterproof .They (Nova pan) are Light Weight, Customized and requires 2hrs for fitting and Costs about Rs 425/- per Sq ft . Thus making partitions is an efficient way of dividing a space into desired shape and area as required by the user.
