PROCEDURES: Motivation: Both the teacher and the students will be reading the poem presented. And every paragraph will be explained by the teacher. Keep the Scene Clean! (Gloria Nowak) There's nature's beauty all around, And many times I think I've found A lovely place, unseen by man Until I spot a soft drink can! I gaze upon a gorgeous view With hills arrayed in every hue, Where surely no one's bee; but wait Another dirty paper plate!

The bottle that contained your beer Just isn't going to disappear

And all those cans with pull-top lids Will now outlast the pyramids; And yet no matter where you roam It costs no more to take them home. Moreover, this unsightly trash Can be converted into cash; For you can make a "tidy" sum, Recycling aluminum. So, let's enjoy the wilderness, But please don't leave it in a mess!

Schema Preps: Ask the students what the underlined words in the poem are and list it in the board. The teacher will ask if the underlined words are being seen by them on the streets or in the environment. The teacher will ask the students what are they called.

Actual Presentation: The teacher will put the pictures on the board. The pictures which conveys the polluted environment. Have students identify what is wrong in each of the pictures displayed. Write the students responses underneath each of the pictures. The teacher will be discussing to the students that pollution is anything that harms our surroundings and that people cannot survive without clean air, water, and land. Pollution can kill or sicken plants, animals, and people. Pollution can change the environment. Stress that pollution is a responsibility and concern of all people in every community. The teacher will identify and discuss the types of pollution which is land, water and air pollution. Soil pollution can come from chemicals used on farms to kill insects and other pests. Pollutants can also seep from garbage dumps into the nearby soil and water. Water pollution comes from factories that dump poisonous chemicals into lakes and rivers. Water pollution can also come from farms. Farmers put chemicals on the ground to help crops grow and to kill insects. Rain can wash these chemicals into lakes and rivers.

Air pollution comes from factories and power plants that burn coal and oil. Smoke from factories and power plants can mix with water in the air to make acid rain. Air pollution also comes from cars and other vehicles that burn gasoline. After discussing the types of pollution, the teacher will also discuss about the effects of pollution. Pollution can kill or sicken plants, animals, and people. Pollution can change the environment. Pollution can get into the air. Air pollution can irritate peoples lungs. Polluted air can mix with rain to make acid rain. Acid rain kills trees and harms fish in lakes. Pollution can also get into soil and water. From there, pollutants can get into the food chain. Plants take in the pollution from the ground. Animals that eat the plants can be harmed, too. Bigger animals and even people might eat the damaged animals. There after, the teacher will discuss the importance of having the environment clean, to be free of pollution. Then give examples on how to clean the environment. If we keep the environment clean the environment will keep us safe we can be prevented from diseases we and the community can live happily the place surrounding us will be tidy we don't pollute the world around us including the water land and air that is necessary to produce food for humans, and other animals and plants to live. we can save our environment by recycling old things to make it renew there are loads we can do to keep our environment clean like:1-reduce->reuse->recycle. 2-plant more and more trees. 3-dont litter anywhere. 4-warn people who take cigarettes that its dangerous for them as well as the environment. 5-use eco-friendly items.

I.

EVALUATION: The teacher will group her students into two. And let them enumerate and discuss in their own words the types of pollution. There after, they will cite examples on the effects of pollution to the environment.

After which, the two groups will be given coupon bonds each and crayons. Ask students to "Brainstorm" to complete a list of ways that they can help to stop pollution. Have them make a poster in helping to stop pollution or keeping the environment clean.
