Reading and Practice: Read A History of Photography parts 1-3, A Brief History of the Photographic Flash, watch the video The Art of Photography: Episode 1 and view the presentations Photojournalism and 10 Photography Quotes You Should Know (all linked under Resources), taking notes in the Cornell Notes format. Write a summary at the end. (Minor grade) Correctly formatted Cornell Notes can be used on the concept test. Write at least one posting on your class blog, using the prompts posted on the Negri Blog. You will receive 10 points on this portion of the PAK if you make three blog postings for this PAK, 8 points if you make two and 6 points if you make only one. Please check your spelling and grammar. (Minor grade) Write an Inspirations blog posting: Search the Houston Chronicle website for a story posted in the last week with a photo that interests you. Save a copy of the photo, then place it on your blog in a post named PAK 01 Inspirations. Copy and paste the caption, including the photo credit. Paste the URL of the photo underneath, then write 1-2 sentences explaining why you chose that photo. (Minor grade)

PAK 01: The History of Photography

Take the Current Events Quiz for the week, located under Resources. (Minor grade) Project: Famous Photographers Create a brief PowerPoint presentation (minimum 4 slides, plus title slide and Works Cited) on an assigned photographer and present the information you gathered to the class. Include key points in his or her life, such as birth and death dates, whether he or she had any major accomplishments or covered any major events and what style of photography the photographer specialized in. Show 5 notable pictures by that photographer and explain why you picked them. Use at least three sources to gather your information for this presentation. This includes the sites where you found the photos. o Wikipedia is not an acceptable primary source for this please do not include it among your three sources. Cite the sources in MLA format. If you are not sure how to do this, visit citationmachine.net. Save your Famous Photographers document and place it in the PAK 01 Dropbox inside the Photojournalism folder on the Student Common. Name the file as PAK 01 Project_ followed by your initials. Print out the rubric, rate your own project, and turn in the rubric for grading. Give an oral report on your research on the designated date.

Evaluation: Complete the PAK 01 Project Reflection located under the Discussions. Take the PAK 01 Concept Test, located inside the Testing folder inside the Photojournalism folder on the Student Common.
