3 on 3 Basketball Rules
The Game: 1. The Game shall be played by two teams of three players each. -Each team must have 3 players to start the game. A minimum of one player from each team must be female The playing court shall be one half of a regulation basketball court. A game will begin with both teams agreeing on one player to shoot for possession. Each game will consist of 15 points by one team or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. Baskets are worth 1 point or 2 points if scored behind the three point arc. If you score, you maintain possession. No foul shots will be taken. If the offense does not hit the rim and the defence gets the ball, they need to take the ball out to the 21 foot line before trying to score.

Rosters: 9. Teams must have their rosters set prior to playing their first game. This includes first and last names and student numbers for each player. Players cannot be interchanged after the first game is played.

Putting the Ball in Play: 10. 11. Following each dead ball period the team about to put the ball in play must check the ball with a defensive player. After checking the ball with his/her opponent the player putting the ball in play must do so by passing the ball to a teammate.

Fouls: 12. A player who is fouled shall be responsible for calling the foul. In the event the player who is fouled does not make the call, the player committing the foul may do so. The penalty for a foul shall be to award the possession of the ball to the team who was fouled. If opponents disagree about a foul/non-foul, the player in possession shall shoot, Ado or die@, from the top of the key.

Held Ball/Possession: 15. When opponents gain simultaneous possession of the ball, the player last on defence shall be awarded possession.

Change of Possession: 16. Following each change of possession the ball must be taken back past the 21 foot line. -The ball shall be declared cleared and ready for advancement when both player and ball have crossed the 21 foot line going away from the basket. -If the ball changes possession and the ball is not cleared, and the player shoots and scores, no basket shall be awarded. The team who shot the ball will still keep the possession of the ball.

Time Outs: 17. Each team shall be allowed 1 (one minute) time-out per half.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct: 18. The sport supervisor of 3 on 3 basketball tournament has the authority to disqualify any player who conducts him/herself in an unsportsmanlike manner.

Tie Game: 19. If a game is tied after 30 minutes, teams will shoot at the top of the key for possession of the ball. Play will continue with the first team scoring a basket winning.

Proper IDs: 20. All players must present valid Dalhousie/Dalplex ID=s to the sport supervisor before playing.

Personal Injuries: 21. 22. Any player injured must notify the official so the proper paperwork can be completed. Any player who is bleeding shall be removed from the game immediately. The game will resume once the player is removed. If the blood is removed from all playing surfaces and has stopped, or has been completely covered, the player can return to the game. The sport supervisor will have the authority to decide if a player can return to the game. Intramural sports are a volunteer activity where players participate at their own risk. Participants should understand that they are responsible for any and all costs arising from injury or property damage through participation.
