So, take a little time thinking about what you most need... many parents discover that one good-quality lightweight stroller for errands and travel, combined with one jogging stroller or full-sized stroller, is a great match for all needs! FROM WOMB TO WHEELS - AGE PLAYS A ROLE Birth to six months is the period where your child doesn't have adequate head and neck control for an upright stroller. You'll need to find a stroller onto which you can attach your infant seat, one that has a bassinet, or one rated for newborns. From 6+ months and older, the stroller world really opens up to you! Unless your baby has special needs, she or he can ride in nearly any stroller out there. Caution when jogging! Pediatricians warn against too much jarring until your baby has very good head/neck control, usually 8 to 10 months. WALK MUCH? If you'll be using a stroller daily for more than just going from your car into a store, you'll love having one that is comfortable and smooth to push. Neighborhood walks and paths are so much more enjoyable with a great rolling stroller. This is where trying out hands-on pushing is tough to replace with online browsing. And, full-sized, full-featured strollers can tip the scales past 30 pounds. Think about how often you'll be lifting the stroller up stairs, into your car, or into a closet. If it's something you'll be doing daily, try to balance weight with features and performance. Generally speaking, lighter weight strollers have less features and a less refined ride. They're typically smaller and might have a less comfortable seat for your baby. The lightweights might also lack some convenient adjustments too. The ONLY reason to get an ultra lightweight (i.e., under 10 pounds) stroller is for frequent car errands or travel. If you find a full-featured, full-size standard stroller that is under 20 pounds, you're doing very well. Most are under 25 pounds. Expect the very lightest all-terrain stroller to tip the scales at 20 pounds, as well as the very lightest joggers. Most are under 25 pounds. As far as size, look at the folded size when making your decision. Even if weight is the same, it's much easier to lift, carry, and store a stroller that is less bulky when folded. AND NOW, THE FEATURE PRESENTATION All the features are where it really gets more confusing, as no stroller has all of them. Here are some of the more popular ones: Reverse handle or seat -- this lets you face your baby as you push. Very sweet. Cupholder -- if not included, don't despair! You can buy universal-fit cupholders. Storage basket -- you're going to need it for snacks, diapers, wipees, bottles. The bigger, the better. Sun Canopy -- unless you live deep in a shaded forest, sun protection is very important. Bigger sun canopies provide better protection. Adjustable handle -- very important for parents who are under 5'3" or taller than 6". A nice feature for all other parents. Reclining seat -- some strollers are easier to recline than others. 5-point harness -- safety is paramount, and this is the safest type of harness. Adjustable legrest -- one more way to make it more comfortable for your growing child. Bumper bar -- (also called grab bar, toy bar) handy for securing toys in front of your baby while you stroll. Toddlers enjoy it too. Snack tray-- popular on American brands, but not on many others. Hello, I was wondering if anyone else had a problem with the Baby Trend Jogging stroller? it is the single child one expedition one. it is black and green. When I walk the front tire wobbles and I tightened the bolt like it said in the instruction manual if the tire was wobbley. UGH not what I thought it would be.. Anyone else have this problem? I tryed to tighten the bolt but it was really tight already and I have tryed to lock the tire and it didnt wobble but than it was hard to turn Reply

Can Baby Trend NAVIGATOR Double Jogging Stroller be used when babies are younger than 6M? I am expecting twins and have a toddler so expenses are something I watch. Ive purchased the Baby Trend Double Jogging STroller NAVIGATOR model it holds infant carseats, but does state babies 6m-50lbs. Question: To save on $$ can I get away with using this stroller before the 6 months? Reply

March 11, 2012 at 9:14 am (Edit) If the infant can be fully reclined AND you dont jog, yes. Dont use the carseat, carseat positions put infants in a bad position for oxygenation and their blood O2 levels go down significantly so use the car seat only for short trips with a newborn. Otherwise wait until the infant is 6 months or older to use it. I find using a sling or baby carrier works just fine with a newborn until that time. Reply

I bought a Baby Trend car seat and we just purchased a BOB revolution jogging stroller. I am going to buy the infant car seat adapter so we can put the car seat in the stroller. Ive heard that some car seats do not work well with this adapter. Should we buy a different car seat? Reply

March 8, 2012 at 1:28 pm (Edit) In the case of most manufactured cars in recent times, they all commonly have integrated an anchor point behind the rear seat which a child restraint can be attached to. This brings to mind another important note as to the installation of your baby restraint and capsule in that they should always be fitted in the rear seat of the car, and must be avoided being integrated at a front seat. Again, in the event you in any way unsure about how to fit your child restraint, have any queries, questions or are in need of supplementary information in regards to specific fittings, or perhaps request that the current installation of your restraint be professionally checked, we advise you contact your local motoring authority for details of approved fitters. Also, many motoring organizations and some safety bodies, such as Kidsafe and Australian Red Cross will also check or fit seats, a small charge may be incurred however for the service provided. March 6, 2012 at 4:18 pm (Edit) Has anyone had any problems with a Baby Trend jogging stroller, like the front wheel frame coming off? I purchased the Baby Trend Jet Expedition LX stroller at Babies r Us a little over 3 months ago and had a few problems with the front wheel shaking then it not wanting to close at all on one side. I had the wheel problem fixed (or so I thought) until this weekend when the whole front wheel frame shakes where it attaches to the main frame. Once I took the footrest off to see what the problem was the whole wheel housing gasket unit was loose and came off along with the front wheel and broke on my floor into all pieces of washers, ball bearing, etc. Of course I could not return it to the store because it was just over the 90 day return policy, so I called Baby Trend customer service. The part just happens to be out of stock. I cannot understand that since it is a major part needed to build new strollers. Has anyone else that owned this stroller or a similar one from Baby Trend had the same problem or any problems with their customer service? Just wondering if they are BS-ing me. Reply

March 9, 2012 at 11:55 am (Edit) Like most products, it also depends on the quality and durability of the item. A lot of the wheels are made of plastic and rubber. Over time, if these are used alot, they probably can fall off from wear and tear. Sounds like your stroller wasnt put together correctly or is a defective product. ToysRUs and BabiesRUs usually post recalled items, see if there is a recall on your Baby Trend Stroller. I would also check the ratings on strollers before

purchasing them, just like any appliance or something your going to use quite often. Reply

March 12, 2012 at 8:28 am (Edit) We have used our Baby Trend jogging stroller since our son was a newborn (we got the carrier to put into it as well). We still use it all the time now and hes 10 months. The only thing we have had to do was put air in the tires a couple of times. I really like it and would recommend it, it was a good price too. Edit: I just looked at your link and that is the exact one we have. I purchased mine at Target for $99 though. Reply

I want to use my jogging stroller for the trip because it more comfortable for him. Will I have any problems having it check and should I put it in a stroller travel bag? Reply

March 10, 2012 at 6:58 am (Edit) I have been looking at the Baby Trend jogging stroller for our next child, if it is the one I am thinking of, it is collapsible. You can bring the stroller with you, and then you can gate check it. If you are really wanting it for use in the airportdefinitely have it gate checked. When you arrive at your boarding gate, approach the agent and let them know you have a gate checked item. That way they can tag it and tell you where you need to leave it on the jet bridge so it can be loaded in the front cargo hold. After you arrive in Sacramento (or any stop in between) the ground crew will retrieve the stroller front he hold and will put it back on the jet bridge for you. I traveled with my first son since he was 4 weeks old, I always brought his carseat/stroller combo and the stroller was always gate checked, no questions asked. Happy flying! Reply

The front wheel on my Baby Trend jogging stroller wobbled SO bad that I had to throw it in the trash unused and then splurge and buy the BOB. I would have gotten out much cheaper if I would have just bought the BOB to begin with.. and I swear that stroller would hold up in an 18-wheeler collision. I know that not everyone can afford a 450 dollar stroller but seriously, do not buy the Baby Trend brand of jogging stroller. I can almost guarantee you will regret it! I dont want to sound pushy but I was trying to save a little money with the Baby Trend.. because I was not looking to use it for hardcore exercising just a brisk walk around the block once in a while. It wouldnt even hold up for that. Reply

March 13, 2012 at 3:26 pm (Edit) Which jogging stroller should I get? Baby Trend Expedition LX in phantom, or the red &? gray InStep Suburban Safari? I need a jogging stroller (which will mainly be used for walking) for my tall two year old son. I want it to have a swivel wheel in the front and be able to fold compactly enough to fit in the trunk of my 02 Altima. Since my son is tall, the height of the seat back is important. I just cant decide between these two. I like the look and price of the Baby Trend stroller and its readily available at Target, but the companys reputation worries me a bit. I like the InStep stroller, but it seemed short on leg room (which seems to be a problem with all jogging strollers), and the crotch strap was kind of tight. Also, its only available online in my area. Anyone have experience with these strollers? Any advice/recommendations are welcomed! Reply

The InSTEP Suburban Safari stroller had pretty much everything I wanted in an all terrain except for a few things, but considering the price I am very happy. I wanted a stroller that relinced, front swivel wheel and an adjustable handlebar. I thought that the handle bar adjusted but it does not. Although, I have to say being almost 6 tall its at a very comfortable height! It folds and unfolds pretty easy except it doesnt stay standing on its own when folded. Sometimes the front wheel gets stuck a little. Meaning when pushing it it wants to veer to the right sometimes. But doesnt do it all the time. The canopy doesnt come down very far, but my husband found an attachment shade that we use from stroller to stroller! It shades her great! The basket underneath holds a good amount. I have no problem with the straps! Its on the tightest right now, baby is 6 months old! It doesnt have a peek a boo panel in the canopy, but quite honestly, I find those useless on any stroller, atleast when they are facing forward. I look forward to using this stroller for a long time to come! It was shipped and arrived in just 3 days and was easy to assemble! Suburban Swivel stroller 4 Reviewer: Anonymous , Newmarket, NH Date: July 25, 2007 I am very happy with my new stroller for my new grandson! It is very smooth riding and turns on a dime. I wish the back would recline flat, but he is 9 months and likes sitting up all the way so not an issue at his age. Storage underneath holds a large amount. Not compact when folded but I have an SUV so not a problem either. Handle is very comfortable for me or my 63 son. He loved it at the mall and I love it for my long walks. I can quickly put it in and out of the car. -It is fairly compactit fits well in our passat wagons trunk and even leaves enough room for our black lab to hang out back there as well. I think it would also fit in a regular sized trunk. -Very smooth ride for long walks..fairly smooth ride for jogging. CONS: -The harness straps are pretty bad. They are very difficult to adjust especially when the child is in the stroller. I also dont think theyre long enough. My daughter is only 9 months old (average size baby) and we have the straps in the top slots and they are extended out almost as far out as possible (this is with a jacket on). I dont know how shell fit into them next winter when shes a lot bigger. -The canopy is pretty much useelss and provides absolutely no shade from the sun. Today my daughter was almost hanging her head out the side of the stroller trying to shield herself from the sun. -Most of the online descriptions that I read online stated that there is a viewing canopy which I took to mean that there is a plastic cutout in the canopy so that you can see through when its open. There is nothing of the sort which I was disappointed about. But considering the canopy doesnt provide any shade, I probably wont ever have it open and wont need the plastic cut out anyway. Ive only had the stroller for a few weeks and aside from the few cons that I listed, it has proven to be pretty decent, especially for the low price. I guess if we had spent about $150 more on one of the higher end strollers, than we might have gotten a stroller with better straps, a better canopy, etcbut if youre willing to deal without those features than I think its a good stroller for the money.
