SCOPE OF THE SYSTEM:

A system named HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM maintains data about the hospital SIR GANGARAM HOSPITAL related information, records of the doctor s working in the hospital, patient admitted to the hospital and room details. The data is maintained in such a way that only the medical staff members have the right to do changes (add, update, delete, display etc) to the project. The patient can only retrieve data on the basis of certain criteria that are defined; they are not given any right to make changes to the system/project.

The major activity that goes in the Hospital are Handling records related to patients. If someone want to know about the status. Sometimes it is difficult to maintain individual reports. To overcome all these difficulties we made a sincere effort to develop a project which made addition, deletion, Updation & manipulation jobs easily whether in doctor or patient.

To create a user friendly system for hospital management aimed for easing out the problem that can be faced by any hospital especially in data entry and data retrieval. This system in its own can be utilized or implemented to computerized all the hospitals involved in data entries and data retrieval and thereby reducing the paper work drastically.

2. Implementation Of Proposed System:

Once the design is complete, most of the major decisions about the system have been made. The goal of the implementation phase is to translate the design of the system into code in a given programming language. For a given design, the aim in this phase is to implement the design in the best possible manner. The implementation phase affects both testing and maintenance profoundly. Well- written code can reduce the testing and maintenance effort. Because the testing and maintenance cost of the software are much higher than coding cost, the goal of the coding should be to reduce the testing and maintenance effort. Simplicity and clarity should be strived for during the implementation phase.

This project has been compiled to develop a HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM which deals with the computerization of hospital s system in order to record and retrieve the data.

This project is designed to reduce the work load on medical staff members. The project has been developed for the hospital named SIR GANGARAM HOSPITAL.

One of the main requirements of the hospital is to maintain the record of its data. To manage the heavy amount of data using conventional method could prove very unwieldy, time consuming and sometimes very expensive too.

This project becomes fully automatic and any information regarding the organization can be obtained by clicking the button. Moreover, now it s an age of computers and automating such an organization gives it better look up.

System Analysis:

Requirements analysis is done in order to understand the problem which the software system is to solve, e.g. For large system having a large number of features and that need to perform many different tasks, understanding the requirements of the system is a major task. The Emphasis in requirements analysis is on identifying what is needed from the system and not how the system will achieve its goals. This task is complicated by the fact that there are often at least two parties Involved in the software development - a client and a developer. The developer usually does not understand the client's problem domain and the client often does not understand the issues involved in software systems, this causes a communication gap, which has to be adequately bridged during this analysis.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY:

Regular and reliable keeping of person s detail is must for the department so that the management can take the right decision about any change in Hospital Management system of connection of any person.

The basic analysis principles that shall be kept in mind while developing software:-

The information domain of a problem shall be represented and understood. The function that software shall be performed. The behavior of the software shall be represented. The models that depict information, functions and behavior shall be uncovered in such a manner that it uncovers all the details in a layered fashion. 5. The analysis process shall move from essential information to towards implementation details.

1. 2. 3. 4.

While analyzing the project, information shall be collected from people who directly or indirectly been related to hospital management with the help of FACILITATED APPLICATION SPECIFICATION TECHNIQUES (FAST) . It shall be used to make the project user friendly. Analysis for an error free project shall be carried out as well.

Recognition of Needs

RECOGNITION OF NEED- WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

One must know what the problem is before it can be solved. The basis for the candidate system is recognition of a need for improving an information system or procedure. This involves a preliminary survey or an initial investigation to determine whether an alternative system can solve the problem. It entails looking into the inefficient existing procedures, or whether parts of the existing system would be candidate for computerization. Time saving: Using computers can save a lot of time. This is possible, as computers are fast, efficient and more accurate as compared to human beings.

Quick Reports: A computerized system can help on generating different types of reports. This can be done easily by merely pressing few keys. Reports can be easily obtained at the spur of the moment unlike a manual system.

Much More Details Available: A large amount of details can be obtained easily in a computerized system which otherwise can t be available in a manual system. Efficient and accurate: Computerization will increase the efficiency and accuracy of the timetable administration in maintaining records

Faster and Easier Data Retrieval: By using computerized system data can be retrieved at much faster pace. Old records can be located immediately and easily.

Economical: Due to computerization more accurate functioning can be obtained as compared to manual systems in long term.

Decreased Number of People: Computerization will decrease manpower dependence. After automation only one person will be needed where as in manual system two or three are required.

2.2 Feasibility Study:

The following aspects have to be kept in view while conducting the feasibility study for any project:

Technical Feasibility: The current manual system could be made computerized to benefits for members as well as the administrator. The convenience and additional features were the bonus.

Operational Feasibility: Being a highly user friendly system, both members and the administrator could easily use the system with minimal training

Economic Feasibility: The system is quit economical since the cost of hardware and software is not very high. The existing PCs are utilized and the additional costs are far overweighed by the advantages.

Behavioral Feasibility: Since the system brings benefits to both members and the administrator in terms of ease of operation and greater convenience no resistance to introduction of this system is apprehended.

System Design:Designing shall be the most important part of the software development. It shall require a careful planning and logical thinking on the part of the system designer. Designing a software means how the various parts of the software shall be going to achieve the desired goals of the software. It shall be done with utmost care because if this phase contains any errors it will affect the performance of the system.

Design principles:

1- Design is to provide for mass data and relevant data. 2- Design should such that it makes access to data easy for user? 3- It should provide prompt responses to users request for data. 4- Design should be such that, it makes latest modifications to Database available immediately. 5- The design shall minimize the intellectual distance between the software And the problem as it exists in the real world. 6- The design shall exhibit uniformity and integration. 7- Design should be flexible enough to allow for growth in data base system. 8- Design should protect data from physical harm and unauthorized access.

9- The design shall be assessed for quality as it is being created.

10- The 11- The

design shall be reviewed to minimize semantic errors. design process shall not suffer from tunnel vision.

DESIGN OVERVIEW

The design stages shall take a final specification of the system from analysis stage sand find the best way of fulfilling them, given the technical environment and previous discussion on the required level of automation.
