He is the One Who made the sun a shining light and the moon a reflected light and determined for it phases, that you may know the numbers of years and the count (of time). Allah has not created this except in truth. He explains the Signs for a people who know. Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and (in) what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are Signs for a people who are God conscious.

And mankind was 19. but one community, then they differed. And had it not been for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them concerning that over which they differ. And they say, 20. `Why is a Sign not sent down to him from his Lord?` So say, `The unseen is only for Allah, so wait; indeed, I am waiting with you.` And when We let 21. mankind taste mercy after adversity has touched them, behold! They plot against Our Verses. Say, `Allah is more swift in planning.` Indeed,Our Messengers (Angels) write down that which you plot. 22. He is the One Who enables you to travel in the land and the sea, until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind, and they rejoice therein, there comes a stormy wind and the waves come upon them from everywhere and they think that they are surrounded with them. They call Allah, sincere to Him in religion, (saying), `If You save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful.` But when He 23. saves them,

behold! They rebel in the earth without right. O mankind! Your rebellion is only against yourselves, an enjoyment of the life of this world. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do. 24. The example of the life of this world is only like water which We sent down from the sky that the plants of the earth absorb, from which the men and the cattle eat, until, when the earth takes its adornment and is beautified and its people think that they have all the power over it, there comes to it Our command by night or by day, and We make it as a harvest clean-mown, as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus We explain the Signs for a people who reflect. And Allah calls to 25. the Home of Peace, and guides whom He wills to the straight path.
