Corruption is still a serious offence which can affect the countrys economy, Sessions Judge Fatihah Idrus said before sentencing. In mitigation, Khoos counsel Syed Azimal Amir Syed Abu Bakar said his client earned only RM 1,500 a month as a supervisor and that he had to support his wife, two children, aged six and seven, and his diabetic mother who required regular medication. Deputy Public Prosecutor Syafinas Shabudin submitted that the court should impose a deterrent sentence as stipulated by the law.
