CygNet Integrated Network Management System Options & Description

The CygNet Integrated Network Management System is available in various configurations and optional plugins, with a view to offer clients the choice of Grow as the Network Grows. The key philosophy here is that the client can choose a plain vanilla CygNet configuration which offers real-time monitoring to start with, and progressively upgrade to a full-featured, standards compliant telecommunication Operations Support System (OSS). One of the distinct features of CygNet Product Suite is that all the individual modules/plugins are designed with a view to offering a ready-to-use module, at the same time, a framework as generic to the extent possible which lends itself to further customization. While retaining the basic functionalities, the individual CygNet modules are customizable to the exact needs of the client. Given below are the CygNet Modules/Configurations and their brief description.

CygNet Lite
This is the entry-level network-monitoring tool from the CygNet product suite. Offers real-time monitoring and basic Fault, Configuration and Performance management functions. Following are some of the most prominent features of CygNet Lite Network Management System Web-based GUI Database Integration Auto-discovery of devices/topology SNMP MIB Browser Event screens, filters, alerts and thresholds TMF Compliant Southbound Interface

CygNet Network Management System

The CygNet Network Management System offers the next level of network management capabilities required from an enterprise class network management system, over and above what is available from CygNet Lite. In-line with NMSWorks philosophy of Grow as the Network Grows, an upgrade path is available from CygNet Lite to the CygNet Network Management System. Following are some of the most prominent features of CygNet Integrated Network Management System: Zonal/geography based management Fault Log Analyzers Interface Analysis Discovery Reports Historical Reports TMF Compliant Northbound Interface

CygNet Integrated Data Network Management System

CygNet Data INMS offers full fledged management of an end-to-end data network, with management support for various data network devices like routers, switches, hubs, remote access servers, etc. Following are some of the most prominent features of the CygNet Data Integrated Network Management System: WAN Link Analysis Application Discovery Router OSPF/BGP Views/Broadcast storms RAS Views SLA Management Real-time port view of switches

CygNet Advanced Integrated Network Management System

The CygNet Advanced Integrated Network Management System is the top-level, carrier class offering from the CygNet product suite. This is best deployed with either one or all the telecom modules of the CygNet Integrated Network Management Suite, or over the CygNet Integrated Data Network Management System. This module offers a range of advanced network management and business management features which includes: Trouble Ticketing Root Cause Analysis Fault Control & Correction Consolidated & Vendor Specific Reports Trend Analysis TMF Compliant Northbound Interface for OSS Integration.

CygNet TMF 814 Mediation Framework

The CygNet TMF 814 Compliant Mediation framework acts as the bridge between the CygNet Integrated Network Management Platform and the underlying multi-vendor EMS's/technology platforms. From a TMN perspective, the mediation framework is the key interface between the Network Management and Element Management Layers, and represents the foundation upon which integration is built. The mediation framework is scalable to add additional EMS's and/or technology platforms based on the client needs. Given below is a diagrammatic representation of how a typical CygNet Mediation Framework deployment will look like. The flexibility of CygNet Integrated NMS arises from the fact that it can be deployed in various configurations, based on the nature and type of network/equipment to be managed. For instance, given a network with network elements having SNMP support, the mediation framework may not be needed at all. The mediation framework becomes essential under specific conditions like when there are multiple EMS's (even the network type may be the same as in a telecommunication transport network comprising multivendor equipment). With an existing CygNet Mediation Framework, there exists the possibility of adding plugins to each EMS's that needs to be integrated under the CygNet Platform.
