ABSTRACT
This project deals with giving intelligence to the existing traditional system The Fingerprint Scanner is interfaced to the micro controller unit, which keeps track of the Identification The scanner scans the fingerprint and compares with the database The microcontroller will control the lock depending upon the Scanner output. If authorized then allows the person for access and prints it on LCD display If unauthorized persons try to break in, then the controller automatically alerts the security

MICRO CONTROLLER
It is high performance CMOS AT89S52 IC compatible with MC-51 products Operates in the voltage ranges of 4.0 to 5.5V within 0 to 33Mhz frequency range It has 8-bit CPU (RALU) with 8KB in-system programmable flash memory and 256B of internal RAM 32 programmable I/O lines, 3 16-bit Timers, eight interrupt sources, full duplex UART serial channel Low-power idle and Power-down modes, Watch dog timer (13-bit counter &WDTRST), dual Data pointer, power-off flag On-chip Oscillator and clock circuitry and some SFRs more than that in 8051 2 External, 3 internal timer and 1 serial interrrupt

P0, P2 : Recieves code bytes during flash program and verify P1 : Ext count, trigger, for in-system programming PROG,VPP : for pulse input for flash programming (12V) T2 : capture, auto-reload, baud rate generator modes through T2CON and T2MOD RCAP2H, RCAP2L are capture/ reload register pair AUXR, AUXR1 and DP0, DP1

RS 232 , MAX 232

RS-232 is defined as the Interface between DTE and DCE using serial binary data exchange It carries the handshake and modem communication signal and available in 9db and 25db connectors MAX-232 is an amplifier / attenuator IC This is used to convert the controller sns TTL logic voltage levels to

FINGER PRINT SCANNER

Fingerprint processing includes two parts: fingerprint enrollment and fingerprint matching While entering finger images are given two times. Image Buffer serves for image storage and format is 256x288 pix System sets aside a certain space within Flash for finger print template storage, thats fingerprint library Security level is divided into 5 grades, and cooresponding value is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Only the upper 4 bits of the pixel are transferred and two adjacent pixels of the same row will form a byte

OTHER BLOCKS
Power supplies of 5V and 12V are used There are 3 selection keys used to perform actions like: compare, add, deletion of finger prints EEPROM This is the block of externally connected memory in case of large data applications Maximum of 64KB of memory can be interfaced to the controller externally DC Motor This is used to drive the door to get opened and works on the principle of flemings left hand rule LCD display This is used to display, the type of access being done Driver IC This is used to drive the motor connected, by taking the output of microcontroller

ADVANTAGES
Everybody has unique finger print Degree of security is more Economical Easy in operation Gives an alarm on unautherised access Editing permission is not provided to every member More than one finger print can be taken as input inorder to have more security Can be installed anywhere easily Very much reliable

APPLICATIONS
Personal computer / Workstation security Network / Enterprize security E-commerce / E-business Electronic transactions Banking and financial systems Medical information systems Any password-based applicaton

LIMITATIONS
The catastrophic losses may occur In some cases the finger print may be misused

FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
The degree of security can be increased by introducing: Password along with finger print IRIS technology Provision of sending message to the nearest security office in case of unauthorised access Sending the accessed member details to the owner along with the timing
